Anyone been to Albuquerque NM?

New Mexico is still on my list of states not yet visited! One day

I used to be stationed there. I like it a lot. The Old Town section is nice and a must-see in ABQ., lots of interesting stuff...particularly the Indian and Mexican art and culture (can get a lot of inexpensive, handmade jewelry..especially turquoise). The mountains are right there, and there's quite a bit to do if you're into them. Like someone said, Petroglyph National Park is pretty cool. There's also a lot of surrounding desert, so it can be fun to go four-wheeling. And the Mexican food is outstanding. I really miss the green chili and authentic sopaipilla's (not the crappy fried tortillas they they try to sell as sopailla's here). It's not as new and clean as Charlotte since it is older and doesn't have the wealth we have here, but I find it to be an interesting place with all the cultural differences.

But like other's have said, Santa Fe is nicer. It's also the State Capital, and has a really big arts community. If you have time, the drive is easy and well worth taking the trip. Overall, NM is a pretty cool place.

Just been down south. White Sands is impressive.

Be sure to take the aerial taramway up the mountain. Just before sunset.

Also Sante Fe just 50 miles north, worth the trip.

I heard the mtns are pretty nice,hiking in the Summer and good skiing in the Winter!
