...because comparing the torture, raping, dehumanizing, and killing of men, women, and babies for hundreds of years with one person's mistreatment and killing of ANIMALS over a couple years is totally acceptable and necessary.

I'll say this, no doubt what Vick did was disgusting and should've been punished - and it was. But, in the big picture, as sad as it was, THEY WERE ANIMALS - NOT HUMANS.

Comparing the abuse and killings of DOGS to the atrocities that slavery was comprised of is not going to win any people over to your side of the argument. Both are bad, but one involves HUMAN LIFE and lasted hundreds of years while slave owners treated dogs better than their fellow man. This is ridiculous.

And what does this have to do with someone being shot at Vick's party? As much as we like to jump to conclusions, it's very possible that Vick saw the guy there, knew it violated his probation, and left. The party was full of Vick supporters, so it's also very possible that one took it upon himself to play hero and pop a cap in the guy without Vick's knowledge. It's also possible that Vick could've saw the guy and set up his shooting for after he left. WE DON'T KNOW.

In the meantime, I suggest we move on to another discussion (or at least back on subject) before Vick's tax evasion gets compared to the Holocaust.
