Need help trying to figure this work issue out.

Former co worker from another area pings me and says she needs to tell me something. Ok sure go ahead. She says she would rather tell me offline.

Mmm ok. Is it bad? Neither she says. Ok.

So she emails me at home and says that somebody I work with, who doesn't know I know her tells her that the reason I'm posting for another job is because I'm losing my privileges.

This baffled me. The only privilege I can think of is working from home.

I applied to another area the other day for the first time in 3 yrs.

This past Fri I was knocked offline at least 3 times. I had some gaps but they were accounted for by me calling tech support. They gave me a temp password for the whole mainframe instead of just one system. So once I got in on one system, the others I could not. Thus I had to call again.

My bosses boss, while in town from Austin was at a meeting with us. We were all joking around and talking about the World Cup and he goes is that why you were offline so long on Fri. We laughed and I mentioned me calling support and I can bring the cell phone bill. He seemed cool, didn't pull me to the side etc.

The only logical conclusion is it has to be this.

Any thoughts out there? Am I reading too much into this?

And I just found out this was a conversation she had 2 months ago. Doesn't sound right.

He has been around and knows alot but if it was two months ago, I have worked from home a ton.

I'll tell you what a psychiatrist told me. A little paranoia is healthy.

Do you think she is interested in your job? Even though your boss joked with you, you may want to watch your back for a while.

I think my job is safe. I handle far too much for someone new to take on. Plus I do all the weird international escalation issues nobody else will touch.

Create a niche' and it tends to protect you. But this day and age, who knows.
