I believe I know why steve smith went on to rant how the higher picks don't work hard enough.

Having a good/great work ethic is vital to succeeding anywhere. I know I bust my ass at my job, doing the best I can for not only my success, but the succcess of the company also. When ya work hard, and you see your co-workers aroud you not working as hard, it is very frustrating. I realize that not everyone is going to have the same work ethic as me, but I don't understand their laziness. They get by with it, but they never achieve the same success, and the company as a whole is suffering from their poor work ethic and attitude.

On a football team, everyone needs to put in the work to achieve the ultimate success. The superbowl. As long as you have players who feel it is owed to them, or they are just coasting to get a apaycheck, the team will never win a superbowl, regardless of the coaching.

Yeah because if you listened to the apologize he didn't think he did anything wrong either. He said if was an accident and no big deal. He only apologized because his contract said he shouldn't do it and fans like you and guys like Adam Schein got all pissy about it. So like he is supposed to do, he apologized and said he was sorry so guys like you would shut up and let it go.

Of course HE said it was no big deal, I'm sure the Panthers feel differently... we've got one of the worst passing games in the NFL, a new starting QB and our best WR broke his arm playing flag-friggin-football.

I'm glad he's sorry, he should be - but just because he says he's sorry doesn't make it okay. Worse than letting down the Panthers or the fans, he let down his teammates with this foolishness. The only reason we're having this conversation is because guys like you equate this to someone hurting themselves while taking a bath or being in a car accident, which is just plain stupid.

I doubt Smith gives a damn about placating folks, he screwed up and he knows it. If he slipped in the bath tub and broke his arm, he wouldn't have called Hurney to apologize.

If you can't see that in spite of the overt apologies he is obviously not contrite or apologetic then you aren't very insightful and too concrete for any explanation. I would thought anyone could see that the whole time he is apologizing he is downplaying the issue and being sarcastic. As for being wrong, he is doing the same thing hundreds of other players are doing at some level or not. The issue is he got caught. I am not defending him as saying it was no big deal IMO. A lot like jaywalking, wrong technically but unless you are run over by a motorist, no one thinks much about it. From what I read other players were there as well, but didn't get injured. Why do you keep making a big deal about something that most everyone else has moved on about?
