Man, I've watched this show since its first season. Loved the characters, the drama, the look at a life so different from what we experience here.

But last night was the episode where Captain Phil has his stroke. I couldn't not watch it but I couldn't escape the nagging thought that reality TV finally got what it wanted: a beloved character dying on camera.

I watched it last night. It was full of drama on all the boats. It was actually a pretty good episode. You don't actually see Phil die, they pull him off the boat alive and thats the last you see.

That's pretty much going to be next week's episode. It's always been compelling TV and the Time Bandit has been my favorite of the boats, but it leaves me feeling hollow and intrusive to be watching Phil die.

Just can't seem to look away, yanno?

Chain-Smoking kills Fishermen too.

And catching your son stealing your pain pills only to have him admit that he's an addict will also spike your blood pressure.

Hard working, hard smoking, hard drinking, hard living, early dying. It's a sad truth.

I watched about 3 seasons of it, but after that it just got boring. I GET IT, crab fishing is dangerous.

that's why they're developing the human stories more.

DC has about run its course.
