Just rewatched the game, and I just wonder... I guess money changes people

Pep had good game

Foster sure was talented back then

This is when Superman was born. He got poked in the eye, which is why he wore a visor

I didnt know Lovie Smith was the Rams DC at the time

Issac Bruce had a good game too

Last but not least, Delhomme had a great game. When did this focus on Smith only Jake begin, but back then his vision was much better. Spread it around then

Guess you mean the playoff game against the Rams.

I think Foster lost some speed with all the injuries.

Outside of Smith and Moose (with Keyshawn for one year) our receivers haven't been very good since that year. Its easy to spread it around when you have Smith, a younger Moose, a solid vet in Ricky Proehl, and a healthy Foster coming out of the backfield. Its much harder to spread it around when your receivers are Smith, Colbert, and Carter.

Foster became a "power back" and gained a bunch of weight, which I thought was a bad decision. Maybe they thought it would help him stay healthy, but I don't think so. Should've found another Stephen Davis-type back and left Foster to be the smaller, quicker guy. Definitely can't complain about our backs now, though.

One play in that game saved the Panthers. After Davis' long run (when he pulls his hammy), Delhomme fumbles near the goal line. Adam Archuletta has a bead on it and if he gets his hands on it it's six points the other way. Foster taps the ball forward and Moose falls on it in the end zone. Smitty gets all the glory for that game, but Foster's was a 14-point play.

LOL after that game the lowly rams haven't been the same since.

Vermeil built a juggernaut that was strong in all three phases. People think of the Greatest Show on Turf, but our defense won the NFC Championship AND saved the Super Bowl that year, and our special teams were good, too. Tony Horne returned three kicks for touchdowns. Then Martz took over and his "just keep the other team under 30 points and I'll win it" mentality eventually destroyed the team. He gave Lovie the reins of the D in 01 and the Rams went 14-2 and were top three in offense and defense. But then it all started to go to poo as Martz got involved on Draft Day.

What happened to Fox?

Fox has been the most consistent part of this franchise since he came here. It's just some players have left, and some have seen their talents diminish to the point that Fox's philosophy no longer suits the team he has.

With our resurgent ground game, we're definitely getting back to a team who can succeed by playing Foxball -- if the defense can step up.
