Darin Gnatt thinks Kenny Moore will replace Smitty at the start of camp

I would think the closest receiver to Smith in terms of athleticism and speed would be Armanti Edwards from what I have heard. Seems to me Moore will get first crack because of his experience more than his skill sets matches Smith. He didn't seem to have the ability to go up and get the ball in traffic like Smith does and like Edwards has been described doing in OTAs. But you are right about us using a good blocking possession receiver on one side and Smith on the other. I wonder who will shine more, Jarrett or LaFell.

I still want Edwards to remain exclusively a slot/return guy, at least for his rookie year.

I am interested to see how they use him this year. If he turns out to be the athlete he seems to be, I would like to see him on the field for returns, pass plays, and maybe the wildcat. I would love to see us line up in the wildcat and throw out of it. Lots of possibilities.

The DUI and Smitty's disapproval of his work ethic also are not correlated with any of his lack of production.

And they are not correlated with him being benched either. I seriously doubt the coaching staff suddenly decided to bench him towards the end of 09' because he had a DUI 2 years ago or because a teammate challenged his work ethic his rookie year. As long as he was productive then none of that would matter. They decided to give the younger guys a look since DJ wasnt getting it done. PERIOD!

For the record, I think Jarrett will be fine but like most have said, he isn't a playmaker, he is a possession receiver.

The guy to look out for is Armanti Edwards. This guy has a ton of potential to be our next Steve Smith. Now I don't want to get ahead of myself but I can't help but get excited over Armanti.

David Gettis is a darkhorse candidate imo, I think people need to keep an eye out on this kid.

I meant I was in agreement with you. People keep defending him as if the coaching staff is ignoring his greatness when he's given them many reasons to prove he's not ready for the NFL.

My bad dude! I misunderstood you. I just don't understand why everyone thinks he's so productive and why people act like its such a mystery why he's been inactive when the reasons are so obvious

I can see Jarrett and Moore as the 1's going into camp simply to motivate the younger guys.

Not sure what to think of Moore, still holding out hope for Jarrett... there's much more to playing WR than speed. Jerry Rice ran a 4.7 40 and turned out to be pretty darn good.

I seriously don't understand why Jarrett is hated on so much. I bet half of you suppose Jarrett haters will be eating your words come midseason.

Just because some of us don't want him here anymore or cut doesn't mean we hate him. Where do people come up with the "hate" crap?? You can still want the guy gone without hating him. We dislike him as a player. Big difference. And as much as I want to eat my words, I just can't see it happend with how LaFell, Gettis, & Edwards could be better than him soon. Maybe K. Moore too.

Blah....Someone has to throw you the ball first

Really?? Then how did Jake made a rookie Colbert look good than Jarrett could ever look? Beside, how did Jarrett look with Vinny, Carr, & even Moore? There is a reason why Smitty call him out when he was a rookie.

thats an unfair question, carr made the whole team look bad and barely completed poo to anybody besides king, vinnie I dont think even threw a pass to him, and since moore has been playing he spreads the ball around and finds jarrett more then anybody else has
