Darin Gnatt thinks Kenny Moore will replace Smitty at the start of camp

Maybe this is a "blessing" in disguise. I'm not happy that Smitty broke his arm, but maybe this will end up showing us who is more prepared to start at WR, I think we all know that once Smitty comes back from this, nothing will change, he will still be a dominate force at WR.

Speed has never been the chief concern for a Fox team. Emphasis is always placed on physicallity.

That is changing on both sides of the ball. Many of the guys cut this offseason were a direct result of the team trying to get younger and faster on both sides of the ball. Moose was released not because he still wasn't the best blocker among receivers but because of his lack of speed.

I seriously don't understand why Jarrett is hated on so much. I bet half of you suppose Jarrett haters will be eating your words come midseason.

Did you make the bet his first season? And his second? And his third?

I'm holding out hope that Jarrett does live up to his potential. He certainly can make the catches, but can he get separation? Maybe a change at quarterback will help, but it still remains to be seen if he's a better option than any of the other young receivers on the roster.

It's not that hard to understand at all. In three seasons Jarrett has shown absolutely nothing as a receiver. He's had plenty of opportunities and has done nothing to convince anyone that he deserves to be on the field, or even on the roster. I would love to see him turn that all around and become the second coming of Moose, but I'm done holding my breath on that. Lafell has everything we've always hoped for from Jarrett and much more upside. I'd be genuinely surprised if Lafell isn't starting over Jarrett in week 1.

Muhammed is snail slow and he's the Panthers all-time leading receiver. Jarrett has proven if you actually throw him the ball He'll catch it. Jake, No vision, poor arm. No if Jarrett practices poorly thats one thing. If he doesn't understand the concepts or plays thats another. But He's a big body, He has good hands, all he needs to do is run ten yards and look for the ball. Just like Muhammed

If we keep Jarrett and cut Moore, who starts when Smith goes down? Lafell is the blocking reciever like Muhammad was. The only other guys are Edwards, who is still learning the receiver position, and Gettis, who is a late round rookie learning the system.

I don't know if the Panthers' job of "blocking receiver" can go to a rookie. They've never really been in favor of that concept.

Did you notice the sweeping changes and youth movement that took place during the offseason? LaFell was drafted partially because of his ability as a blocker. It wouldn't surprise me, nor many of the other people here, to be a Week 1 starter for that very reason.
