Tried the Peace Maker pale ale by lonerider last night. It's good stuff.

Lonerider is turning into one of my favorite local breweries. Really like the Sweet Josie.

Yeah, they make some really good beers. Sweet Josie is a great brown ale.

Left Hand Milk Stout.

Soooooo cremey.

I give the edge to Duck-Rabbit's as far as milk stouts go, but the Left Hand is delicious as well. Did you know they're making them in "nitro" bottles now, so it pours like a Guinness? Haven't tried it yet, and for that matter I don't think I've actually seen it around Charlotte.

Try this if you're ever in the midwest and can find it.

I actually got that one in a trade earlier in the year. Very tasty and interesting beer.

Same here. Thats why I wanted to try peacemaker, and I wasn't disappointed. I also tried Shotgun Betty. It's good for the style. I'm keeping an eye out for their seasonal brews. Beer advocate lists a porter that i'd really like to try.

Finally went to the place in wilmington with the best selection. Lighthouse in wrightsville. I left with the following.

Founders breakfast stout which is definitely as good as everyone says. Founders dirty bastard, a damn good scotch ale. Highlands thunderstruck coffee porter. I don't think highlands brewery makes anything I dont like. And last was Lefthands fade to black. A pepper porter. I enjoyed the slight spiciness, and plan to try more like this.

the best though is what I opened this morning from the wife. A kit to brew a whiskey barrel stout. It won't be ready until mid or late february, but it should be worth the wait.

I love all of those beers! I'm also a huge fan of just about anything aged in a bourbon barrel -- let me know how yours turns out.
