Going to Cleveland tomorrow for thanksgiving so i will be drinking Great Lakes Christmas Ale all week. Im probably going to need a lot of it cause we're also going to see the Panthers play the Browns. :(

I was actually going to take a road trip with some friends to see that game, but my buddy (who is from Cleveland) is going through a divorce right now and is just not up for it. Have fun up there!

I need to find the Great Lakes Christmas Ale in Charlotte. I've heard it's awesome.

Damn kids. I know what you mean.

I'm really excited and happy to work on the nursery. I just need to get this stuff done so I can start brewing! When the kid comes, I'm not going to be able to afford the more expensive beers, so I figured I need to learn how to make it cheaper myself.

You won't need much beer either as you'll be too tired to drink much

Hehehe.. you're in for a big surprise brotha

:(

I know I'm in for it, but I hope I can devote maybe a couple hours a month to brewing. And I do realize I'm going to have to cut way back on drinking, too.

On a similar note, I'm going to set aside a Chimay Blue next year for my son to have when he's 21. :cheers2:

Im not sure if we're getting it here. We went to the tasting of it when it came down here and they said they probably wouldn't be able to get it but on the Great Lakes site they said they made extra this year for the 12 states they distribute too. So, who knows. I will be bringing a few cases back for the rest of the winter so i might be able to let a 6 pack go if we don't get it.

Hey, I appreciate that! I'm going to look for it a bit this weekend, I think.

I enjoyed a Trader Joe's 2010 Vintage Ale last night. This beer is actually brewed exclusively for Trader Joe's by Unibroue, a Canadian brewery which makes some damn good Belgian-style ales.

It's not the best Belgian Strong Dark Ale you'll find, but it is certainly worthy of $4.99 for a cork-and-caged 750mL bottle.

I took it over to the in-laws for dinner last night. Pretty much no one at the table drinks beer whatsoever, so I didn't expect it to be that well received. Still, my mother-in-law tried it and liked it, as did my brother-in-law, who had a couple glasses.

Had some decent beers while watching the game yesterday.

Enjoyed '08, '09 and '10 Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stouts with a friend. It was interesting to see how the beer's aged. I thought it might lose some of the booziness that it has fresh, but that wasn't the case. The '08 almost had a hint of soy sauce, while the '09 and '10 were more roasty. They were all delicious, though.

Also enjoyed a Sierra Nevada Celebration, which is one of the best (and most affordable) IPAs around right now. Can't beat $12.99 for a 12-pack at Total Wine.

Awesome! Did you go to the game? A friend and I were going to go, but decided not to at the last minute.

I'll see if I can find it around here. I meant to do that this weekend but never got around to it.

Unfortunately no I had to be back Sat night.

If you can't find it just lemme know, I'll hold onto them and I'll give them to you next time I'm in the area, which should be soon.

Moylans Ryan Sullivan's Russian Imperial Stout in Heaven Hills barrels

Oh sweet Mary mother of god Classic cigar stout that will blow you away. I literally said " holy poo" on the first sip.

Nearly black with a thin head

Nice oak and whiskey on the nose are there but underwhelming. Its once you taste it that the magic happens. Hints of vanilla are a there around the edges of whiskey and chocolate. Very smooth and drinkable..

Man, that sounds great. There is only one rating for that beer on BeerAdvocate.com. Sounds like you found a pretty limited one!

Also sounds like a nice trip overall. If I'm ever down that way, I'll be sure to check out Avenue Pub.
