Hey BB, I'm admittedly stupid when it comes to beer, but what do you know about Session Golden Ale?

Is this the one by the Williams Brothers?

Unfortunately, I've never had it so I can't comment on it. Judging the by the reviews, though, it seems like it would indeed be a good "session" beer that you could drink all night.

beer in a nosing glass? I'll have to try that, sounds good.

Yeah, I think it contributes a good bit to the aroma, and I like the way the snifter feels in my hand. I've been getting into bourbon a lot lately, and I'll drink bourbon from it as well -- I have no clue if that's the right glassware for the bourbon, though.

yeah that's it. I like it but there's just not enough alcohol in it. Especially for $7.50 a bottle.

Who cares if it's right. The key elements are there to enjoy the drink as long as the general glass shape funnels the scent to your nose.

I've been drinking more scotch lately. :yesnod:

The next bottle of liquor I purchase will be scotch. Any recommendations for someone relatively new to the spirit? I have had Glenlivet and enjoyed it in the past. If my beer tastes are any indication, I could see myself liking the more peat-smoked scotches.

I'm only just getting into drinking it myself, but oban comes to mind.

I tried a couple of Abt 12 last night because I couldn't help myself. Very good beer, smooth, and just the right bitterness. And Good God that beer packs a wallop.

That really is one of the best Belgians out there. Glad you liked it! If you want to try more styles that are similar, look for Belgian Strong Dark Ales. Chimay Blue comes to mind as another good one that you can find just about anywhere. Unibroue Maudite is another good one that's not tough to find.

And yes, all of these higher-gravity beers can sneak up on you if you're not careful!

Did you have the smaller bottles or the big 22 oz. bottle? You've got to think: a 22 oz. bottle of a 10% beer is equivalent to about four regular beers, and you're consuming it much quicker.

I usually have around three 10% beers at my favorite bar, and that's too much for me. I'm by no means wasted, but I should really stick to two (unless I'm home).
