I got a six pack of it at a Harris Teeter in Boone just because I hadn't seen it before and because it was from Highland. It was snowing sideways and we had a cabin a mile above Boone, and I got up the next morning at 8am and drove back to the Harris Teeter to get more.

Sounds like a good time. I love a good beer when it's cold out, though I usually reach for a big stout. I've amassed so many imperial stouts that I'm sure will carry me through winter.

Speaking of Highland and cold weather, you guys be on the look out for their winter warmer, Cold Mountain Winter Ale. It's got a little of the holiday spice you might expect in a winter warmer, but it's very subtle and not overspiced by any means.

I usually just get a Guinness Stout and avoid the microbrews, but locally I like Stockyard Oatmeal Stout by Goose Island.

That is a great stout. Goose Island used to contract brew the Stockyard Oatmeal Stout to be sold in Trader Joe's for $5.99 a six-pack. You could not find a better beer for that price.

Unfortunately, I think Gordon-Biersch is brewing it now, and the beer just isn't the same. I miss it. It was my go-to stout.
