thats awesome...of those, what are your favorite non uber hoppy beers?

Asheville Brewing Company makes a wicked Porter. Hell if you're ever in Asheville just go there, it's called the Brew and View by locals because one of their locations (there's two) has a movie theater and has AWESOME pizza. I don't know if you can get their beer anywhere but at local bars and at the source itself.

Asheville beer is best in the country, ya'll are seriously missing out.

Girlfriend and I did the Asheville Brewery tour a couple years back. Did every brewery in Asheville except Pisgah. I highly, highly recommend it.

all u have to drink is like 20 of them. a sugar high, pissing once every 5 minutes, and getting semi drunk, while gaining 10 lbs is always fun.

My stomach is not big enough to handle that. I would probably puke after 2. I can't even chug a Smirnoff Ice without puking

The Mythical Sexual Chocolate? Anyone?

I had one pint from The Pizza Peel and was non-plussed. But i also was non-plussed by their Founders Breakfast Stout, which is one of my favorites out of the bottle.

I love both the regular Sexual Chocolate and the bourbon barrel-aged version. I'm actually heading up to Foothills this Saturday for the release of Olde Rabbit's Foot, which is a blend of imperial stouts made by Olde Hickory, Foothills and Duck-Rabbit (all NC breweries) that is then aged in Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrels.

Someone send me this "Highland Black Mocha Stout," I know I would enjoy that.

I would be happy to send you some. PM me if you're interested.

I still like Cottonwood Brewery even though Carolina Brewery bought them years ago. They seemed to have left them alone for the most part.

They make the best pumpkin beer these lips have ever tasted

Yeah, their pumpkin beer is really good. It was one of my favorites from a recent pumpkin beer tasting. My favorite, though, was from Catawba Valley Brewing in Morganton (King Don's Pumpkin Ale). But be warned -- if you don't like a lot of pumpkin spice flavor, you won't like that beer.

Their Ninja Porter is so great. I remember way back when it was called the Rook Porter. I buy a bomber or two of that everytime I visit Asheville, which is not nearly as often as I'd like.

Oh, and the Great Gatsby Abbey Ale from Highland is one of the best beers I've ever had.

Is it really? My wife and I spent our first anniversary at Grove Park back in May, and I really wanted to get a six-pack of it but didn't want to spend $11.99 for it. Not because that's a lot of money for a sixer, necessarily, but because it's a brown ale and I figured I could find many a good brown ale for cheaper. I should've not been so cheap and spent the extra few bucks for it. :P
