This fine Friday I cracked open a:

Magic Hat 12-pack summer sampler

Sam Adam's 12-pack fall sampler

Saving a six-pack mix and match from Total Wine for the game tomorrow. Should go well to start the game off and then the remainder of my 12 packs will get me through the second half when I'm trying to remember who the hell is on the rosters.

Nothing new last night - Hop Stoopid, Hopsickle, & Simcoe double.

Gonna pick up a Sweetwater IPA 6 today though. A friend has been on me for a couple of weeks to try it.

I drink Sweetwater when I have to (offered to me for example) but I can't buy it due to my hatred of all things Atlanta.

I was very surprised at how good Sweetwater's IPA is. I really dig it. For the price (around $7.99 a sixer), it's one of the best out there.

I hate all things Atlanta as well, but I try to keep an open mind with beer. ;)

Nice. I almost bought the Sam Adams fall sampler last night, but Harris-Teeter had it for $16.49. I think I'll wait 'til they drop it to around $13.99. I'm eager to try their pumpkin beer and the Oktoberfest is always good.

I just picked that up for the game tonight (along with an extra sixer of Oktoberfest). I'll let you know how the pumpkin ale tastes.

Nice. I'm going to have to pick up that sampler pack.

Right now I'm drinking an Espresso Porter from Palmetto Brewing out of Charleston. Very heavy on the coffee flavor, which I love.

I do love a good coffee flavor in beer. Will have to keep an eye out for that.

Me and my wife finished off the sampler tonight. Not a bad beer in the bunch. Highlights were the Pumpkin Ale and the Black Lager.

I took the day off yesterday for a doctor's appointment, after which I stopped into my favorite bar to have a couple beers. Having beers at noon, when I usually would be cooped up in an office, is a thing of beauty.

Anyway, I had a Duck Rabbit Schwarzbier and a Dogfish Burton Baton. The Burton Baton was amazing -- after trying it and the Great Divide 16th Anniversary IIPA, I'm really falling in love with these oak-aged IPAs. Very complex.

I also really enjoyed the Duck Rabbit and urge you guys to pick it up if you see it and enjoy black lagers. I preferred it to the Sprecher I had a week or so ago, and that's one of the best examples of the style.

Golden Monkey.... a six pack is 10 bucks, but thats all you need. i promise!

I really enjoy Golden Monkey. I've been in a mood for Tripels lately.

Stopped by a new place in Matthews called Custom Home Pubs tonight. They had a location in South Park but moved over behind the South 21 at 485 and 74. As their name might suggest, they specialize in kegs and kegerator set-ups, but they also have a decent (albeit small) selection of bottles and eight craft beers on tap.

I had a Queen City Red from Charlotte's newest brewery, Four Friends. I wasn't that impressed and hope future offerings are a bit better. Then I had a dry-hopped Foothills Hoppyum IPA through their beer engine (it mimics cask ales). Now that one was pretty enjoyable.

If you need to buy kegs of craft beer or are thinking about setting up a kegerator, look them up. Or if you're just in the area and want a good craft beer, stop by and have a pint.

My flavors for the evening:

Old Engine Oil (Harviestoun Brewery) - Heavy coffee flavor, thick as cough syrup, as black as Satan's asshole. Good stuff! Pick it up if you see it.

People's Porter (Foothills Brewing) - Not quite as thick, and more chocolate notes than anything else. Hand of God, though, after a couple of swallows it starts to taste sweet and salty like a peanut butter cup. Very enjoyable. You'll have to get a growler if you want to take it home though.

    • His o loaded with swift, dj, Keenan and Rome was inconsistent at best. The d was bad. And the game management was atrocious and lost them games.  He was terrible and made the team worse. I wish they kept him
    • That is my point.  I think teams make a huge mistake when they pay their decent to average QBs top QB money because they feel that they have to match the market or lose their investment--There is no way, for example, that Tua or Prescott or Murray should all be making more than Mahomes--I mean, Dak makes $15m per season more than Mahomes. People say, "Well, when its his turn...." But that is not how it should be--so my point was that Bryce can be doing mediocre to good enough in 2 years, but the way it is going, you have to pay him at the starting QB rate--currently $60m.  So even if you think he will continue to improve, at $60 m, he would eliminate any chance for a ring---so my view is, if he is not elite, you cut him.  So you draft QBs now and see what you can make of them.
    • With two 4ths and three 5ths I’m hoping we can kill it on adding depth. Take a gamble with the two 7ths.  First 3 picks id love to address the defense. I expect Tuttle, Robinson, and Jewell to all be on the 2025 roster but not after that. Be a good time to add depth and let them develop a year.
