Canes' Brian Dumoulin honored

Defenseman Brian Dumoulin, the Hurricanes second-round pick in last year's entry draft, was invited to a camp designed to help select the U.S. team for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The Camp starts at the end of July in Lake Placid and lasts one week. The offensively-gifted Dumoulin, who registered 22 points in 42 games while guiding Boston College to the NCAA Championship, stands a good chance of making the team. Watch him.

I had the privilege of watching this kid in high school in Maine. Was an absolute stud, he and a player from my town who's going to be a Maine Black Bear went at it all night in the playoffs. Very promising prospect without a doubt.

I was talking with Trip Tracy last week and he seems to think that this kid is the future of the blue liners in Raleigh.

He and McBain are going to make an outstanding duo for years to come.
