BTW, I don't understand why Jimmy Clausen's name would sell more tickets in the first place. Aside from ND fans, most people have never liked him. Hell, I probably still wouldn't like him if he wasn't a Panther. In fact, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they sell more Armanti Edwards jerseys than Clausen jerseys.

Well, honestly, the whole debate about selling tickets is a moot point. The Panthers sell out every game. So it's not like they needed to draft a high profile player to put people in the seats.

ALSO, winning is what keeps people in the seats, not high profile players.

Clausen hasn't done anything to impress me, honestly. I still think he is the most pro ready QB in this last draft, but outside of that, what has he done? He wasn't a huge winner at ND. In fact, Moore has a better winning % in this style offense than Clausen does.

I have always been of the opinion, that no matter how good the QB, a few years on the bench can only be a good thing, specially if the team doesn't NEED to throw him into the lineup.

I often wonder why do so many people, including fans of his, not think Matt Moore could be the long term QB? I'm not singling out any particular person any means but I've noticed this from numerous people.

I think everyone can agree that winning games is the most important thing and so far that's about all Moore has done when he has played. I'm of the belief that Moore is our future QB, and Clausen was brought in just in case.

Matt Moore may not be there yet but as hard as he has worked and played in the games he has been in I have not seen a single thing that makes me believe he won't be our long term starter. Has Moore even had a bad game when he has gotten the chance to play? To make it more outstanding a few of those wins were with key players already being out of the game. I really believe Moore will surprise a lot of people this year. I seriously doubt that he is ready to hand the reigns over, especially when he just got them himself.

If Moore proves to be franchise caliber I think we will lock him up and trade Clausen a year or so down the road.

Whether Moore falters or does well, Clausen is the future QB of the Panthers. Its inevitable. The only way Moore starts 2011 is if he goes balls out this season. He'll have to win games, not just be decent or a game manger. If the Panthers had a 1st round pick, Clausen wouldve been the selection, its just an added bonus he happened to drop to the 2nd round. Whether hes a 1st rounder or 2nd rounder is irrelevant in this particular situation really. Dont take this as a slight to Moore, but Clausen is a very talented QB, once Clausen catches up to him mentally, it will be hard for Moore to fight him off.

This is 100% correct. He was on top of their draft board.

If people ask why some of us don't think Matt Moore should be a starter, I think they are misreading things. I think Moore deserves the chance to start, absolutely. But I have higher expectations for the team than last year, most of which will ride on the quarterback. The bottom line is that there are two main things that make throwing the ball easier: 1) a good line, and 2) a good running game.... the Panthers have both. With Moore's experience last year and weapons (hopefully Smith is ok) he will have very few if any excuses to not produce a top 15 passing attack. Some may challenge this with Fox's conservatism, but his job is on the line and I think you will see him open up the playbook assuming he has confidence in his starter.
