Is Matt Moore a starter and can the defense survive without Pepppers???

Recommended Posts

This is a decent article on ESPN by Pat Yas discussing some of each team's questions. However, he sells Charles Johnson and Everette Brown short.

Is Matt Moore a Starter?

Is Carolina’s Matt Moore really a starting quarterback? The Panthers hope and think so, but there really is no way to tell for sure until Moore gets into the real thing.

Can the Panthers survive without Peppers?

Young defensive ends Everette Brown and Charles Johnson probably will never come close to showing Peppers’ overall athleticism.

more than a lot of sacks i want constant pressure on the QB and lots of hurries. that is something we haven't had for a good while. if that happens sacks will happen, but more importantly, the offense will be making more mistakes all over the place. i don't mind not being in the top 10 in sacks if our defense is in the top 5 overall.

The defense survived without Peppers half the time while he was here. I see it being no different moving forward.

not really. Even when he wasn't "on" defenses still had to gameplan and account for him.

All of the games where we genuinely got pressure like washington, tampa bay, minnesota, The Giants, and Jets were all games where Peppers was "on".

You simply can't replace Peppers. Everybody on the D-line will need to make big strides in their improvement just to break even.

Moore has a winning record as an NFL starter, why do people keep saying "once he gets into the real thing" when he's been there and won?

Probably because he's somewhat skinny, not ripped all to hell, and didn't go to USC or Notre Dame.

If Greg Hardy can stay healthy (And motivated!) and Brown brings the pain like he's been saying he will, the DE's will be able to cope with the loss of Pep, though nobody will be as much of a powerhouse as Pep. Teams will stop gameplanning for one guy and begin gameplanning for the D-Line as a whole.

Matt is the answer. I've heard enough questioning. He is ready.

Moore has only played in games where he has nothing to lose. The critics remain unsure of what he is going to do when he plays in a meaningful game.
