Jets willing to pay Revis $100 mil

Revis is acting like a douche about it thoguh

Actually, he's acting like a guy who knows that if he plays his cards right, he's standing on the cusp of having the equivalent of the winning Powerball numbers and the ability to set his children, and their children, for LIFE financially--which isnt douchey at all, its his responsibility.

He SHOULD hold out, because he has the ability to provide a service in an industry that generates billions in revenue, making those huge contracts possible. He's also in a position to take care of not only himself, but his family-his whole family. Anyone in his position would be foolish to pass that up.

People who act like they would act differently if they were in these athlete's position, or would play for "love of the game" and not hold out, are being dishonest to say the least..

Look at Nate Clements deal a couple of years ago, or Nmandi's last year.

It's not all that crazy to see him get a $100 mil contract...how much of it is guaranteed is the big question.

That really is the question isn't it? If they extend him for 6 years and give him 35 million as a signing bonus then it might be a decent deal. But if they make it roster bonuses or don't give him that much up front, he is getting used. He is under contract for 3 more years which will make him 28 in July after the third year. He is scheduled to make 1 million in 2010. I can see he doesn't want to work 3 more years and risk injury or giving them his best years without a new deal.

Yeah I know that a deal is a deal but he has clearly outworked that deal.

His grandchildren won't bet set because of the money he makes. In fact, his children might not be.

I understand paying a QB 100 million if they whole offense revolves around them but a DB? He had a total of 54 tackles, 31 passes defended and 6 INTS. Great numbers for sure but is he really worth Peyton Manning money?????

take a look at the receivers he defended. he's the best corner in the league and is a type of player you can build a defense around(aka Willis, Ray Lewis years ago, Beason, etc.)

the only problem is Al Davis gave Nnamdi that ridiculous contract so the price for corners is higher than it should be.

No one throws at him. Gives Rex the ability to send extra defenders since Revis can cover 1/2 the field

That is the problem really. Davis just put the price tag at a ridiculous level. As for building a defense around him, you don't build a defense around a DB. Willis, Beason, and Lewis are all middle linebackers and call out plays. That is who you build the defense around not a DB.

That still doesn't justify the price tag of 100 million. And frankly Revis can cover 1 man plain and simple. That still leaves 10 others out there. Sure shut down covers are a great luxury for sure but if the rest of the defense sucked, Revis couldn't make up for it himself.

maybe it is me but I wouldnt pay a guy 100 million on defense when he is only involved in less than half the plays.

It leaves 10 men but I can't recall a G scoring a TD. Sure he covers 1 guy but that 1 guy is usually the #1 WR and he DESTROYS them. You're a stat guy...look that up. It might surprise you how much he dominates Elite WR's

A good Lineman can cover two people unlike a CB though.
