Malaki Starks or bust bay bay

I would prefer an edge rusher but honestly I wouldn't hate it. In the history of our franchise it's the one position that we've never had a really good player. Deon Grant is probably the best FS we ever had and he's was basically a mid-level starter. Watching guys like Ed Reed and Earl Thomas and Brian Dawkins and guys like that over the years just really opened my eyes to what a difference a true sideline to sideline over the top deep FS can make in a defense. Everyone can play more confidently and more aggressive because they know they have that safety valve back there as a last line of defense.

Mike Minter comes to mind, although he was back and forth between FS and SS

Evero's system leans heavily on smart, athletic play from the safeties to allow for the disguised coverages that he's known for.

Haven't drafted a solid safety since Mike Minter... It's time!

jalon walker, please.

I think he's the pick barring something crazy happening in front of us. This is a tough draft to read who the actual top 10 are. Walker could go before we have a shot at him or we have the choice between him and the Michigan DT. I've also seen him drop all the way to 23. It's anyone's guess.

Honestly wasn’t expecting that much love for walker. Wouldn’t be against it though.

You would be surprised at how scouts and teams see his skills. His versatility at LB and edge make him a very valuable asset. There's a small chance he may not be there when the Panthers are in the clock.

If there's a run at QB the Panthers are sitting pretty. If teams are smart and pass until round 2 then the Panthers may be screwed. Pray for much stupidity in the top 6 picks.

factor in the intangibles, his age, his leadership and background in general.  We would be lucky for him at 8

This conclusion from a scouting report on bleacher report makes basically summarizes the issues I have with Walker at 8.  Another low floor project?  No thanks.

With that, the Bulldog is a high-ceiling but low-floor type of player. His potential is enormous, as he could be a versatile defender who impacts the game in several ways, but he also runs the risk of struggling to find a true position in the NFL. Whatever team drafts Walker, he will need to have a plan for his development and will be taking a gamble, but the payoff could be high.

People are acting like Walker is a don't miss guy. I disagree and think he will be in a group of 5 or 6 other guys that will make about the same impact at that position. I'll wait for his combine numbers to come before final judgement. He is gonna have to cover in this league as well so I want to see some of his workouts and 40 time. Acquiring an extra pick and still getting a starter in the 1st rd is the best option in my opinion. Only 3 guys I stay at 8 for are Hunter, Graham, and Carter.

If they miss out on him they still have a shot at 2 or 3 possible day 1 starters. I'm not ruling out the possibility of trading down however.

1Jalon Walker, Georgia

Jalon Walker emerged as a standout linebacker and edge rusher for the Georgia Bulldogs, showcasing his versatility and athletic prowess on the SEC's biggest stages. In his final college season, he earned the prestigious Butkus Award, recognizing him as the nation’s top linebacker.

After a strong showing in Indianapolis, Walker could spark legitimate first-overall pick discussions. Though he's slightly smaller and shorter than the prototypical edge defender, his draft stock could soar if he impresses at the weigh-ins. Coming in 10 pounds heavier than his playing weight, running a sub-4.5 40-yard dash, and clearing 38 inches in the vertical jump would all boost his case.

Walker excels at both off-ball linebacker and edge defender roles at an elite level. His pass-rush win rate and pressure metrics rival those of top first-round edge prospects, and his dominance against the run adds another layer to his game. Beyond his on-field production, he’s also been a vocal leader and captain for the Bulldogs.
