There's about a dozen guys putting on a new roof on my house today. One of them is a kid that doesn't look a day over 13. He's not doing much, just running materials and such, but damn.

roofing is something you definitely need to hire out...good on ya...it ain't worth the small savings of doing it yourself!

heh they just rung my doorbell to ask if they needed to do my carport as well. Apparently the kid is the only one that speaks english. And yes they all appear to be mexican.

Insurance is covering it from the hail storms we got a bit ago. Total cost out of pocket - $500. :hurray:

Probably too late now but almost every roofing company will "cover" the cost of your deductible when going through insurance. Just need to let them know you are not willing to pay anything out of pocket. About to do the same thing with a $1,000 deductible but won't have to pay a cent.

Had carpet put on the 2nd floor of my house awhile back. Mexican kid and his dad showed up to install it. Kid spoke English but Dad didn't.....kid said he was 13 years old and they were moving back to Mexico once they finished putting my carpet. Kid worked his butt off that day.
