Panthers after Davis injury: 'There's nobody to come save us'

Same thing Fox told them in 2004 after so many veterans went down. He coached his best football the second half of that season. If we are going to do anything this year he will need a reprise of that performance again this year.

yeah, he stopped being so damn conservative, grew a pair, and laid it on the line a few times that year. the results were pretty good. they didn't make the playoffs, but they sure as hell made a hard push for them.

Don't know about that. Most of the injuries in '04 occured during the season, not before training camp. As long as there is a decent replacement available, we should be ok and won't have to rely on Fox being less conservative.

It is very optimistic to think we have seen the last of the injuries. Every year we have had more issues than just one guy going down. If you count the 9 veterans we lost through cuts and Davis to boot, we have to replace 10 guys so far. That isn't too far from the 13 that went down in 2004. At least this year we won't have to dig out of a big hole. We will have the whole year to get things together. Still Fox and his staff will have to coach their butts off to make all the new starters and their replacements all perform at a high level this year. Just like he had to do in 2004. It was us against the world. I expect to see that theme again.

I expect we will throw quite a bit this year as well. I don't think it just is being conservative but hopefully actually having a passing attack again. Plus in 2004 we ended up with Goings being the rushing stud that although he did an admirable job, isn't the equal of Williams and Stewart.

“It was always a chance with Thomas going down, even last year, that Dan could come in and play the Mike,” Beason said of Connor. “That’s a tribute to him. He’s a solid football player with great technique. That’s the way we’re working right now, but that’s because he can do it. I look forward to him making plays.”

That's reassuring. Beason's damn good at playing the Mike -- let's hope Connor can play it well and that Beason will wreak havoc at the weakside.

"There's nobody to coming save us"

Why that dirty atheist! TD hear my thoughts... come back to us... even if it's during the sinful month of October... bring candy and a can of whoopass...

Boy are you guy gonna be surprised in October!

TD's injury in and of itself doesn't concern me that much but it just seems we are losing all our known variables left and right this offseason. Our D in week 1 will have a grand total of 5 guys (Gamble, Marshall, Godfrey, Beason, and Brayton) that were starters week 1 of last season. Anyone that is not concerned about that is fooling themselves.

Very true this will really show us how good Fox really is. He's always found somebody to go to in these situations. He's always adapted and salvaged the season, half way through. I hope he has learned to be more proactive in his years because saving half the season just wont do this time. JR is surely watching. Everybody is playing for a contract which should make things very interesting. He will have to plug holes more quickly than he has traditionally and get deep into the play offs to prove his worth this time.

. I feel you on that one bro. Back in 2008 when we should have won the superbowl I remember fox saying something like " when we have such a good team one year we should try our best to keep that team intact the following year". Like you said a lot of that team is gone. And last year I believe that if that fine young male didn't throw all those picks, we would have made the playoffs our offense should be set this year aside the wr position but even so I have faith in dwane and our speedy rookies. Oline is solid n double trouble speaks for its self. Our only concern is our d-line in regards to urgency. We were stout when our big boys were dominating the trenches.
