I'm of the school that you don't levy unprecedented penalties without concrete evidence' date=' it wouldn't fly in a court of law so why is it allowed to fly for the NCAA.....I admit the Universities compliance dept. dropped the ball big time but punish them accordingly with the evidence you have.....[/quote']

Who is saying that the fine is excessive? Bush, USC and Pete Carroll. What do you expect. My feeling is that if the punishment is unprecedented then the violations are pretty serious. I will wait to see what knowledgeable people say once all the facts come out.

Besides Harvard, Yale, U of Penn, Emory who else?

I don't keep a runing tab of schools and how many have been on sanctions but lets look at local schools. Has UNC, Wake or Duke ever gotten sanctioned like this? How about ECU, Appalachian, Western Carolina, UNC Charlotte?? I don't really know and perhaps some of them have like NC State did when Valvano was there. I really doubt it is only IVY league schools.

He took the money on front. Then stiffed the agency who tried to collect. Reggie went to FBI to report that he was being extorted. Investigation launched.

ALL of this is on Bush. If he had just paid back the 300k or got a combination of boosters and Petey Carroll to pay it, nothing would have happened.

I think its hilarious. Let the poaching begin.

Newsflash to yesterday....the report is out and the Bush section of it is built entirely on the "word" of a convicted felon.....take off the eSECpn blinders the penalties are certainly unprecedented and excessive for the violations listed in the report. Alabama got less and they had a UA booster paying a recruit to play at Alabama, there is no such violation listed in the USC report....

Based on me reading the entire 67 page report and noticing that every time they mention Lake there is no concrete evidence associated with it....

And you are an expert on sports law or an authority on NCAA sanctions?

Of course you aren't. So just state your opinion and move on. You don't know what constitutes concrete or not. So you know more than investigators who worked on the case for 4 years?? Seriously????

Anyone who actually would read a 67 page report anyway needs a life. LOL:D

I'm pretty sure the word of a convicted felon (who by the way was shown to be lying on certain occasions in the report) wouldn't hold up in a murder trial, so yea I think that wouldn't be concrete.....
