Press conference today to announce Moose's retirement

If we set it too low, we'll run out of jersey #'s and bronze...

Moose was a great player, and I will miss him, but to put him on a Sam Mills level of importance to the Panthers is a tad undeserved...

Kasay probably should get one, and Smitty should too... Smitty probably won't though because of his bad moments... and if you don't give Smitty one, there is no way in hell Moose gets one...

If on the field performances were the mark, then Moose would have done more for us than Mills who obviously served on the staff and was memoralized for his battle with cancer and inspiration to the team and organization. Really the question has to be asked whether it is for on the field play or value and contribution to the organization. It it for being a player then Moose has made as much a difference as anyone but Kasay and Smith if Steve plays 2 or 3 years more. If you don't count Mills strictly as a player since being here 2 years, in and of itself, wasn't enough to earn it and don't count McCormack because he wasn't a player for us but president and GM, then really no one in the organization has made it for on the field contributions.

So if Moose made it in along with Kasay and Smith in a few years, that would give us 3 statues in 20 years. After 60 years we might have 10 player statues. Whether that is excessive or not probably depends on what your criteria is for inclusion. But given the thousands of players who would have been here by then, finding 10 worthy of a statue seems reasonable.

I doubt he or Smith makes it though. Both have had issues over the years.. Probably makes Kasay the only likely choice.

i don't give a flying fug if he DESERVES the statue or not, I just WANT one of him Hushing the philly fans for 2 reason:

A) fug philladelphia.

B) That would be one of the most badass statues outside of a stadium in all the league. a constant reminder to opposing fans and teams that they need to shut their mouth when they come to charlotte.

oh and he deserves the ring of honor at the very least, for everything he has put into the community and everything he has done for the organization, he deserves at least that little bit of recognition. then again i'm bias, I named my dog after the guy.

Whenever a fan favorite retires, a statue and jersey # retire gets brought up.

The first thing this shows is most fans have no idea why sam mills got a statue.

The second thing is, retiring a number is very over rated. People get so butt hurt, cause someone else is going to wear that #.

Moose was a complete receiver, that has many great memories for us fans. Cherish those memories, but don't go overboard on it.

Don't need to worry about statue talk right now. We can always reconsider that matter down the road.

I'll admit I was upset when he bolted for Chicago but I'm willing to forgive him for that. I'll even forgive him for his occasional dropsies. He'll be missed and I'm sure run defenders WON'T miss his big frame pushing them to the ground.

(and now the obligatory highlight reels)
