You could have been speaking Persian to me right then and it would sound the same.:driving:

He is the back up goalkeeper's backup at a mediocre Premier League side i.e. he's going to be useful, but he's nothing special.

Which is better soccer Miaoww this or the Stuff you watch regularly?

Different styles.

The Premier League is much more frenetic. Generally (though it's changed over the last few years) teams are going out to try and win it and it's end to end stuff. It's played at a much faster pace, with teams pressing each other all over the pitch.

International football is always much more cautious. Teams are terrified of making a mistake, especially in the knockout stages, so it becomes much more tactical. Teams like to retain possession, build from the back and don't commit many forward.....which at times, quite frankly, makes it a boring spectacle.

As for which is better. Erm - probably the EPL, but the passion of international tournaments is difficult to replicate on a weekly basis. So much rides on each game that the whole thing is fun to watch.

can someone other than donovan please finish a play

He's the only real class player you have, Howard aside. The rest are average to above average, but the team is always looking to Donovan to make something happen.

I like Altidore. I wish it was like basketball and you could rest guys for spots because I think a fresh legged Altidore could win this game for us.

Altidore's got all the attributes of a very good player, but there's something missing. He's a useful target man as it is, but he's not clinical enough infront of goal and he doesn't make clever enough runs. Perhaps something will 'click' because he's still quite young.

At the moment, as you say, he'd be an excellent 'impact sub' [i.e. bring him on for the last 20 minutes when the defence is tired] - his height, pace and power would be a real handful. I don't know who else you have upfront though so I imagine he's your best option to start.

Often wondered what kind of career Donavon would have had if he had went over to the Euro leagues.

He looked very good for Everton last season when he was loaned out. They played him in a free role though - off the front man, which makes him very difficult to pick up.

He's certainly a talented player. He'd have been a good player in a top league (EPL, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga) in Europe.

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
