FYI davis is not one of the three players the Panthers can't replace

Sorry but I don't buy that he can be easily replaced. For one he was a first round draft pick so we have an extremely high pick invested in him. Second he was starting to play like a beast before he got hurt. Beason and a healthy Davis would have been a huge boost to this years defense which is, "on paper" and from what I hear from early practices struggling.

I hope that somehow somone steps up but it's hard to believe he will be easliy replaced by someone currently on the team.

I don't think anyone is saying that he will be "easy" to replace or that we won't miss him. However, we do have good depth and a lot of talent at LB. I think we can overcome this injury easier than most.

Example: Year Smitty got hurt in the pre-season game against Green Bay (I think)

It was the first game of the 04' regular season on Monday Night Football. One of the most gut wrenching games ever attended due to it being the opening game after our Superbowl appearance which produced 1) the Smith injury 2) the Packers beating us at our own game (47 carries for 133 yards, vs. us running 13 for 38 yards).

We had a top ten defense last year without Davis. We'll be fine.

that was a bad season opener, but I don't think anything compares to last years eagles game.

gamble would be pretty hard to replace at this point as well. the talent on the bench behind our starters and the nickle is a pretty big drop-off. also, there are'nt any corners availible on the market that are as talented as he is.

I agree gamble would be a huge loss, we dont have many corners with experience, especially when you look at who our nickel and dime c-backs would be.
