HOW was TD allowed to practice?

I'm just sitting here in disbelief tonight. Jonathan Stewart has practiced what, less than a quarter of the practices he could have practiced in since he got here and he's able to go out there on Sundays and dominate. And yet here's another guy that plays at a Pro Bowl level out there cutting and backpedaling in an optional early June workout 6 months after an ACL tear. That this could happen Makes. No. Sense.

We heard you the first time. ;)

This thread remind anyone of the threads about Kemo's injuries last year? Remember when people were making the case that Kemo shouldn't have been running because he was too heavy?

Sure, Davis had an existing injury, but these things happen. It really is fortunate that it happened now and not during the season, so that the team has plenty of time to find out who will replace him.

I think I am in the camp he probably shouldnt have been on the field. That of course is now hindsight. I know alot of us were thinking it, but we trusted the medical staff & coaches. To steal a line from Fox.... "it is what it is" now and the team has no choice but to move forward with the guys they have. I am just dissappointed we are not going to be seeing Davis on the field.

"These things happen"

But you would agree that this would NOT have happened if he hadn't been cleared to practice right? It might have happened anyway during training camp or that extra 8 or 10 weeks or however long it would have been might have been enough time so that the ACL would have held up. We'll never know now as his career with us is probably over sadly.

How is anybody supposed to know if his ACL is going to tear again? If the doctors said "Do you feel any pain or tightness?" and Davis says no - even if he does feel it- then it's Davis' fault. I'm 100% sure if they had asked him and he said it was still tight, we'd know about it.

no injury would have happened if players weren't allowed to practice

Did I say that? No. My point is why didn't they err on the side of caution when there was no downside whatsoever for keeping him out a little longer? If they had kept him out of OTAs, he doesn't injure his knee. It's that simple. That's a pretty huge positive. Players miss OTAs all the time with zero effect on their play that season.

Did you ever consider that OTAs were part of the rehab process? You do not let a guy coming back from this to go into full contact at full speed in training camp without giving his body and legs time to adjust to the physical demands.

What was he doing that was so bad for him? He was back peddling and tried to turn, I am afraid to say he was going to have to attempt that at some point...

Does anyone actually ever stop and think that maybe, just MAYBE, that his ACL had healed nicely and that he basically did a completely new tear? Just because it's the same injury, it does not mean the two are linked.

I'm still wondering though: When Stewart sits out every practice ever, is that his choice, the coaches' choice or it what the medical staff makes him do?

medical staff.

i'm too lazy to dig anything up, but both stewart and fox have said on more than one occassion the limited practices and casual offseasons were set up by the team doctors.
