6 players or position that need too step up for us too have a good season.

Some of these are combind because the position needs too step up no matter who the player is.

1. Louis Leonard and Tank Tyler need too be a force in the middle not only for their benefit but too keep Olinemen off of Beason and Davis. These 2 guys are most important for our Def. to have success this year.

2. E Brown, C Johnson these 2 have too become pass rush monsters while also holding up against the run. We can't replace Pep but if these 2 can step up their production with contribution from Brayton Norwood and Hardy. We maybe can reach or exceed sack total and QB pressure from last year.

3. The # 2 WR weather it's Jarret, Lafell, or even Edwards sombody has too take some pressure off of Moore or Clausen and #89. No longer is the safety blanket that #87 was here any more and Steve has carried this passing game way too long. 1 and I'm hoping 2 of these guys have too show other teams that they can't and won't be ignored. Plus whoever wins this Job has too bring a love for downfield blocking that Moose did so well too keep the running game tops in the league again.

4. DLine back-ups More then any other time this team will depend on more of a rotation at DE and DT to get the production we had for so long when guys like Peppers, Rucker, Wallace, Jenkins, and Buckner held the trenches in the blue and black every sunday. We will be less of a star powerd dline and more of keep attacking teams with fresh players with different skill sets. Which could really workout considering the coaching these guys are getting from Coach Baker and the speed and energy of youth. If these guys can come in and give solid production and rest too the starter we should still have a top 10 def.

5. Charles Godfrey has too become a head hunter. While he and Martin are good in coverage their tackling was lacking. Harris while not being the best in coverage was know around the league for knocking people down and taking the ball from their lifeless bodies. Godfrey has too develop that same attitude and agression to be able too run up to the line and knock players like Brandon Jacobs on their ass.

6. Dante Rasario or Gary Barnidge nothing would help this offense and either QB more then Dante finally playing more games like the Chargers game from 2 years ago. Or if Gary can show the skills he displays in practice when the big light are on. If one of these guys could be more consistent and make more plays down the field it would open up more things for Smith and the RB. poo if one of these guys can become threats we could have a top 10 offense.

Tony Fiammetta maybe should have made this list but I'm not as concerned about him. Plus I feel these other guys stepping up are more important.

I do have this in order of most needed to least.

Seems that there are 9 guys who will have to step up from backups to starters. Then there are at least 9 more who will have to step up despite little experience to serve as backups and play in the rotation. By my count that makes at least 18 guys who are going to have to step up and perform better than they ever have before.

Jarret and Lafell

Tony Fiametta or Reshawn Jackson

Louis Leonard and Tank Tyler

Everette Brown and Charles Johnson

Anderson/Williams/Norwood

Godfrey and the backup S's

Both KR and PR

And the only ones on there I have a little doubt for are Jarrett and Godfrey. Everyone else Im sure will step up. Matt Moore just needs to pick up where he left off last season which Im very confidant he will.

Not really. There are plenty of players on this team that need to just maintain their high level of play, not necessarily step up.

Surely you realize that's what he's getting at here, right?

Not really? I want everyone to play at the upmost ability they are capable of. I play highschool soccer (My Senior Year), and will hopefully be playing D-1 ball at UMKC (University of Missouri at Kansas City) next year. Now when everyone is working togethor and swinging the ball around it is amazing what we can accomplish, but when just a few people don't have their heads in the game then it can turn into a dissaster.

There were plenty of games last year when most of the team was playing pretty good, but a few guys were not giving it their all.

Examples (I will exclude Delhomme from this argument because I could use every came he played)

@ Philadelphia- DeAngelo Williams only had 37 yards on 14 carries.

@ Atlanta- Defense got torched by Matt Ryan and Michael Turner.

@ Dallas- Whole Team was awful. Defense gave up 449 yards and the Offense did not produce one bit.

These are just some examples I could give you more but I really don't have the time.

The whole f'n team needs to step up not just six guys.

This. I really can't think of one position that doesn't need someone to step up. Even middle linebacker. Jon Beason needs to prove that he is a leader of the defense. Now that I think about it I'm kind of worried about this season....just too many unknowns.

You can only blame so many things on a coach and heart and hustle is not one of them.

Fans think like this, players get praise for the win. While coaches get blamed for the lost.

(Unless your name is Jake Delhomme, and in that case you are screwed)

I understand that, but as the coach you are the leader and motivator of men, and you decide who plays and who doesn't. Make sure you have the right men on the field. Make sure your players are prepared. Make no excuses, because we all know it is what it is. What it is is a big mistake starting Jake for so long last year knowing damn well he wasn't going to improve. Give your team the best chance to win...

Ok 6 guys that are key to our success:

1. Matt Moore: We know this guy can be good and we need to him to start where he left off. We became one of the better teams in the league with him at QB.

2. Charles Johnson: E. Brown still may not be ready but we need CJ to explode this year. He's got the talent to be a great 4 down DE, we need him to be that and surpass Brayton.

3. Armanti Edwards: This guy can be the x factor that can decide a couple of games for us this year. Whether he plays PR/WR/QB we need him to be a play maker and give defenses something to worry about. LaFell and Jarrett could also be included here but I think we know what we are getting with those 2, they are a bit more polished and I think they'll be fine but Edwards could be a difference between winning and losing. Could make the same case for Mike Goodson.

4. Charles Godfrey/Sherrod Martin: They say Martin will be playing SS this year, even though FS and SS are very similar positions in our defense. Martin will be fine but we need Godfrey to bring a hard hitting presence as well. These 2 have alot of potential and could possibly make or break our pass defense, especially since we have no idea how the pass rush will perform.

5. Louis Leonard: The only true run stuffing DT we have on the roster. I think he will perform well but we desperately need him to be healthy. I hope we pick another big guy up after cuts.

6. Steve Smith: We all know what Smitty can do. However we need him to be healthy. He's only the proven guy we've got.

I'm going to add 1 more here

7. Greg Hardy/Norwood: We need them to generate a pass rush and bring some relief to EB and CJ.

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
