I hate it but if you're considered a top 10-15 pick you generally just don't do drills at the Combine. That's been the case for awhile now.

Well if he ran a sub 4.5, he'd be a top 7 lock. You'd do that for that pay increase, if you could.

Again, he's not NOT running the 40, he's just not doing it at the combine, which has more or less been standard practice for most Top 10-15 picks over the last decade or so.

If he was trying to not run, he wouldn't be doing the drills at the Big 12 combine and/or pro day, he'd say he has a tweaked ankle or something to avoid running a slow time.

Look out for a Pinky sprain at Pro Day.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love him to run a 4.45. I heard you mention his top end tracker a few times. Question is how long to get there?

Yea not sure, but it's like I've always said about him, yes it takes him a few strides to really get up to speed, but once he's moving, he's MORE than fast enough to be an elite WR given his size.  The speed he hit at some point during his first 2 years (haven't seen any data from this past season) was I think 20.8 MPH, which would have been I think 8th fastest speed hit in the NFL this past season.

I'm still convinced the people who don't think he has the speed/quickness necessary have only watched his short highlight reels that consist of his craziest contested catches.  As I've also said, he was 5th in the Big 12 in YAC, he's way better after the catch than you'd expect for a player of his size.

It's all a trade off due to his size, you lose the track star immediate speed, but you gain the catch radius that comes with him.

And Pro-day 40 times are always faster. Not the same clock set up.

    • That works for me too.  I just felt like not enough have converted to Bluesky and that was why he was "forced" to use X.
    • I know every jersey thread goes in this direction, but I feel the need to say it.  The Chinese knockoffs are not your friend. Not only does the money not go to the panthers, but you don't control where it does go. The athletic did an excellent podcast on the business of counterfeit shirts not too long ago. I could care less about the legality of it, but the morality of it is no bueno. Now I need to wash off the "defends billionaire class" off myself, but like don't give your money to those people. If you can't afford a jersey, just go to ebay, or a thrift store, or wear a t shirt.
    • A friend of mine, Chip, was taking an exam in a business course that he had failed twice before.  He would have to drop out of his major if he failed it for a third time--he claimed the professor, Dr. Brown, despised him, and several others who had Dr. Brown's class with Chip confirmed that Dr. Brown's hatred for Chip was obvious.  Before the exam, Chip was up all night cramming, confiding to his roommate Jeff how nervous he was.  Jeff was understanding and listened carefully.  During the exam (an evening course) Jeff was at work delivering flowers for a local florist.  As Chip describes it, a woman (another student who worked with Jeff) entered the classroom with flowers and a card with the words "Dr. Brown" written on the card.  The professor immediately sent the girl out; Jeff was watching from the hallway.  She left the flowers on his desk and scampered out.  Chip laughed because he thought the professor, a man he hated, was being pranked.  A few minutes later, the professor opened the envelope, and read the card.  Chip was still laughing.  He walked toward the students, still taking a timed test, and stopped at Chip's desk, staring at him.  Chip stopped laughing.  He dropped the card on Chip's desk while snarling at him silently.  Chip read the card, "Dr. Brown.  I can't tell you how much I have grown under the three semesters of your tutelage and guidance.  You are my role model.  I will miss you." --Chip Fxxxxx.  Chip made a C.
