Carolina Panthers WR Jarrett shows new dedication

Same offseason story, different year just with the spin of a new coach making Jarrett better. He'll play like an all-pro during camp but my pridction is by mid-season Lafell is the starter opposite Smitty. Unable to play the slot, he may get relegated to fourth string by the end of the season. The slot will be Edwards gig.

Should Jarrett show a little bit, he could see the field on the outside in 3 wide sets with Smitty in the slot to mix things up a bit, so I could see him being a 3b.

Its been a long time coming if it in fact comes to fruition that this kid is in fact a diamond in the rough. However, it is a sign that he continues to get better (if in fact this article also proves true) His steps may be small and his learning curve may not be as straight up as we would all have liked it but his perfect body cannot be discounted. If the mental part of the game including dedication and preparation fill out the brain atop his prototypical frame then we are of course a better franchise for it.

Good work DJ. Keep it up and know that we will be pullin' for ya big guy!

If he stinks, he'll be let go. If he breaks out to be a superstar, they won't be able to keep him with all the other contracts that are up.

So you would be for rewarding him after 1 decent year? Pretty sure the panthers won't. Won't have anything to do with other contracts.

i can see that part of the reasons might have been a disconnect with williams. having such an age/generational difference shouldn't matter but it does.

hopefully tolbert will pull stuff out of him that williams couldn't. jarrett should definitely respond better and tolbert will be more likely to try and get jarrett involved.

we should have moved on from williams a long time ago, imo.

he might seem like he's really working hard this season, but that's just because he's been so unmotivated in the past. Really he's just now working as hard as he should have been 4 years ago.

Hopefully 4th time is the charm because having a solid #2 with Lafell and Edwards in the loop would be a HUGE boost.

The old WR coach was Richard Williamson, not Williams.

Observer must have a new guy writing. Decent article, but got the old coach's name wrong.

Damn, I made the same mistake.

Anyway, with no disrespect meant towards Williamson, I think Tolbert will be an upgrade just because he's younger and will bring a different mind set to the job.

Now that there's a quality QB at the helm, he has no excuses.

there were no excuses with the old QB.

not trying to defend delhomme (i'm not a fan...but i don't hate the guy either), but there are only a handful of recievers that have gained enough confidence from the old QB to have the ball thrown to them.

smith, moose, keyshawn, proehl, king...off the top of my head.

remember carter and colbert? so with a new QB, do you suppose these 2 superstars in the making would have still been here? keep in mind, they haven't cut the mustard on any other teams either.

unlike other fans, i need to see more than just a decent game against a backup defense. by now, jarrett should have developed into another ricky "mr. clutch" proehl (that's the only role i see him playing)...but i don't think he'll ever cut the mustard to be a full time number 2 man.

Still the guy's like 23 years old and he does have some potential. In the past he was competing for the #3 WR spot, which we never hardly use. And Jake D. didn't trust him, nor throw the ball to him but only a handful of times. So hopefully this year he can step up his game a lot for a starting role.
