Panthers can begin sorting out WR options

The 45 man game day roster limit may have an effect on which of the 5 roster WR's are active on game day. To get down to 45 players, the Panthers will probably only be able to 4 WR's active for the game.

Steve Smith is a sure starting WR, as are probably #3 WR Armanti Edwards as the "slot" WR (and possibly as the punt and/or kick returner), and #5 WR William Wallace, because of his special teams ability. This mean that for WR's Brandon LaFell, and Dwayne Jarrett it's pretty muck all or nothing, they will either be the starting WR along with Steve Smith, or inactive.

I watched Lafell at LSU and he is a very physical blocker and receiver. He is big enough to give DBs fits. I believe he can help in the run game as much as any WR. Some say he isn't fast, but his game tape prooves that to be nonsense.

At the end of the day Lafell is the best option to replace #87.

Not when Jarrett is a more experienced version of him with all the dropping of passes and what-not.

I'm really just regurgitating what everyone else says. Honestly, I think Jarrett will probably be #2, and will probably be decent.

Id say rent T.O for a season or two, the perfect situation would be to allow Lefell and Edwards to learn off the work ethic of a HOFer and a potential HOFer in Smitty. Who cares about character issues, hes good enough for a team that needs a #2 and he'd get all the rooks up to speed fast to have a legitimate #3...

Id add Dwayne Jarrett to the conversation but he has sooo much to prove.

Jarrett's run blocking is actually very underrated. I really don't see why anyone thinks Lafell will beat out Jarrett. He might be the #2 next season if Jarrett isn't retained but unless an injury was to happen I don't see it happening this year.

Edwards might end up being our #2 receiver (#2 meaning how many opportunities he gets not where he lines up). I really like what I have heard so far. He could be killer in the slot. Might finally have a reason to run 3 wr sets more often.

Its really much to early to really get any clear idea of starting progression.

These guys are really reaching for stories... That was boring and told me absolutely nothing that I couldn't have already assumed for myself or even read from some random ass poster here throwing ideas at the wall. Oh well I guess I should just accept that it is the off season and there really isn't anything new to talk about anymore.
