Suprisingly, Connor not being asked to compete for starting SLB spot

Connor is the 3rd best LB on this team, behind beason an TD obviously. So why not have him on the field with the two better LBs. He's not fast...ok but that doesn't mean his instincts and tackling doesn't make up for it. We should end these threads now...LET'S PETITION FOR CAROLINA TO CONVERT TO A 3-4, that way we can have Beason and Connor in the middle (the position they are both best at) and TD and Anderson on the outsides (they both have the speed to rush the passer and ability to cover the receivers) it makes sense to me. Tank could play NT and EB, Brayton, and Johnson can rotate at the DE spots. the 3-4 would also help get Norwood more playing time, bc he'd be able to step in for a DE or OLB on third downs if Anderson or TD needed a breather. Our back 4 would stay the same.

We don't have the personnel to run a 3-4, Meeks has never run a 3-4, and most importantly, Fox has never run a 3-4. We're not going to run the 3-4.

Yea I agree with you, but I was just suggesting it to remove threads like this one, some are biased about connor and some anderson, I was suggesting a way to get them both on the field at the same time to make all the fans happy...

It must be a slow news day.

Its OTA's for jimmeny crickets sake!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course there isn't an open competition for the spot right now. They are running around in shorts.

99% of the reason for OTA's is just to get everybody back together and loosened up and ready for mini-camp. The only players really being evaluated during OTA's are rookies and the only thing they are looking at them about is can they follow instructions and do they learn well.

Starting spots are won and lost in mini-camp when the pads go on and the hitting starts. If there is no competition between Connor and Anderson during mini-camp I would be suprised. Right now, it doesn't really mean anything that they aren't looking at Connor on first team. Its freaking OTA's. We're not even talking about practice here.

Strong side, weak side, who gives a damn. If your an athlete you should be able to adjust. So if your a linebacker you should be given a chance to compete for any job. I don't give a crap if they supposedly suck in coverage or the blow in run defense, I want the best people out there and the only way to do that is to hold a full blown out competition.

With that said, at this time James Anderson deserves the starting spot at strong side linebacker. He had six games where he recorded five or more tackles, and two games where he had ten or more tackles. He recorded two forced fumbles, so we now he can hit and tackle.ec Now as far as the accuastions that he is awful in coverage, well those can be put to rest, because no one has seen him in straight up coverage. Also as far as our coverage goes the "Cover 2", the weakness is in the middle of the field around ten to 15 yards from the line of scrimmage. Anderson would always have the strong safety to bail him out if needed.

Also the strong side is the side that teams run to, the tight end would line up against Anderson and Anderson would have to make the tackle on the running back, which he is clearly capable of.

So once and for all quit making up garbage about Anderson and Connor when you know nothing about them.
