Thomas Davis - Speedy as ever

"CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The long hours of rehabilitation, purchase of the electrotherapy machine and all the time cooped up in his hyperbaric chamber seem to have paid off.

Thomas Davis has his speed back.

Not six months after the Carolina Panthers weakside linebacker underwent surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, Davis recently was clocked running the 40-yard dash in a stunning 4.47 seconds.

"We've got guys out here right now that have been healthy at skill positions that still can't run a 4.4," Davis said with pride this week. "So I think that says a lot for the recovery and the hard work that I've put in."

I actually met Davis about 3 hours ago (he came to my job and we talked). He super nice guy! He said he's recovery is going well and he feels great. One thing I noticed tho it looks like he lost some weight. I say he weights about 220lbs.

I'm excited for him but I'm cautiously optimistic. It almost sounds too good to be true.

Ditto, Kris Jenkins comes to mind though he was 100 or so pounds heavier. If Davis is this far along already I think he'll be ok. Of course planting and cutting on that knee will be the true test.

I am going to wait to see him cut sharply to his left or right and take a couple of hits on the knee from the side with no ill effects before I believe he is al the way back. Straight line speed is not the problem with an ACL injury, lateral movement and hyer-extension of the knee are more the concern.

Just sayin......................

True... but Steve broke his leg and seemed to get even faster

That TD in Detroit in 05 where it was 5 dudes surrounding him untouched was one of the greatest plays I've ever seen. He was goooooooneeeeeeeeee

Breaking a bone is nothing like an ACL reconstruction surgery and rehab.
