In one of the deepest classes ever in the trenches and edge how many should the Panthers take?

In a class that's being heralded as deep as some can ever remember, and are obvious glaring need at the position of defensive lineman edge and linebacker. How many of these positions and players should the Panthers take? I believe that in this draft the Panthers should come away with no less than at least three defensive edge guys/pass rushers including defensive tackle.

I'm here in this class could have as many as 36 with the draftable grades and maybe 20 with grades within the first three rounds I believe we have to dig into that wealth of talent. But how many of these players do you think that the Panthers should take?

(1) DT/NT, (2) Edge, but two of the three should be starter capable their rookie year, one for development

3 seems to be the number I am at as well. Let's not discount the value we are getting with the return of Derrick brown. Not sure we need a true nose unless we want him to be one of those ends that just take on doubles(brown) but I am definitely not against it. If we could get a guy like deon walker later I would love it. Who is like 6'7 340.

Two.  One either DE or NT.  Then a Edge/linebacker type. Versatility would be useful.  A defense revamp is a priority. 2 safeties, 1 DL, 1 edge, 1 ILB, and 1 CB.   Depending how FA goes even if we add a veteran safety and more defensive line help I'd still add rookies at those spots to strengthen depth and talent level.

I think we need more pass rush help than that. We definitely need a alpha guy teams must account for. clowney is serviceable but father time is catching up and he isn't special anymore by any means. He also has a career of being a merchant for hire and could leave at the drop of a dime. That said at worse we need a true rotation or 3rd down specialist.

I'm on team trade back.

1. Walter Nolan is our missing link with a healthy DB.

2. I like Ayomanor as a more complete receiver than Isiah Bond.  EA's down field blocking is nasty, and he is field fast as opposed to 40 yard dash fast.

3. Donovan is a solid pass rush specialist.

4. Landon Jackson would provide both versatility as an Edge setter and rotational DE for our odd front.

5. Thomas is a great CB option to develop behind both Mjax and Horn

6. Schwesinger being available here would give Morgan a mile stroke of happiness.

7.  Jaylin Noell is a great speed/slot guy that could learn a ton from AT.

8. Ollie Gordon would be the perfect power compliment to Chuba.

9. Reed would be a solid developmental safety that played well after Winston's injury.

10. Conyers is an athletic freak.  Put him behind Sanders and Tremble.

11. GCL = developmental tackle.

If you could guarantee Walter Nolen is there, I'd 100% support the trade back along with extra picks.

Honestly Ive seen lots of players listed at 5-30. Trade back maybe the play, but Id HATE that looong wait and watching names drafted...

I'm not comfortable trading back farther than 12-16.  We should still have our pick of really good DL and Edge.

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
