The “Joe Person is a tool” trope is pretty worn out. I think he has had on again off again sources with the team over the years. Occasionally he coughs up a good article but sometimes he’s very lazy. The Panthers have by and large been poorly covered. I think it’s time for some fresh voices. 

That said the conversation about keeping Moton at that cap number is crazy. He’s a good player but no way he’s worth $31m. That’s 3 starters on defense. They’ll be drafting a tackle somewhere in the draft I guarantee it. Wouldn’t even be a bad idea in the first round if they traded down.

31 million is a lot but we aint winning poo this year.  Ride it out because even if you restructure he is still getting that money one way or another.  He is on the wrong side of 30 with a potential knee issue.  Bite the bullet.  The average age of an NFL lineman is 27, why in the hell would you bet against those odds.  Play it out and address it in the next off season

Drafting on the OL is smart. There’s some solid guys who could sit a year or two behind him.  Plus, I’m still unsure at C and LT.  Keep strengths strengths. We’ve got a lot of picks to work with as long as they don’t Fitt this and turn 9 into 5 picks via trade ups lol

The amount of quality C the panthers have passed on in the draft the past 5 years makes me want to vomit. The Panthers have been awful at drafting since Tepper took over.

I could stomach it for a minute but thought passing the last two drafts when it was deep with even guys like Limmer in later rounds was a pretty big whiff. Never hurts to draft the big uglies, pressing need or not, the guys in the trenches are where to keep the ship afloat.

That would be the best way of handling it, but I’m betting an extension is coming.  They’ll use the cap savings to add free agents.

Wonder if there’s any chance of us paying BC low end starter RT money and then keeping Moton this year and BC takes over next year and we structure it between those 2 where basically over the next 4 years it is about the same as 1 tackle (since we’d get rid of a ton of Motons hit in 2026)

If I were Morgan, I would prioritize both Christensen and Mays.  Mays is nothing spectacular but he showed he can be a good swing depth piece.  It's good to have something known/familiar insurance as depth.  Christensen is the same but a bit more starter caliber.  With him, I just don't want to overpay, but he seems like a good fit with the gang wherever he plays.        

I've always been preferential to Tremble as a longer term TE2, but would not overly pursue unless is a mutual thing.  And then see if Mike Jackson wants a modest 2-year deal.

Otherwise, I'm letting the rest of our FAs explore.  Save the bank.  I also wouldn't restructure too much, would be nice to just get out from under a lot next year for re-signing the better talent and a splash 2026 signing or two.

I would love to have some great center too, but Mays is not hurting us and his pass blocking is good.  I am not sure of the finances, but Corbett should return if it saves us $$ and does not kick the can down the road.  If I am the OC, I would start Mays over Corbett until Corbett earns it.

If I were a team looking for help at guard entering the draft, I would make an offer  for Zavala.  He played very well this past season--too well to be sitting on the bench.  Watch the Lions, Vikings, or Eagles.

I am very curious to see what we do at WR.  Imo, Higgins would be a mistake. I could have 1000 yards if I played with Burrow and across from Chase.

I think that is a good thing.  I see him as overrated.   Going out on a limb.  I think there is a free agent who has been overshadowed a bit and could be ready to break out without breaking the bank.   Not that Alpha X #1 WR, but one that could benefit in our system.  Had 3 seasons of about 400-500 yards in Arizona and was on IR with the Falcons in 2024.  Rondale Moore.  A former second rounder who could be very cheap.  He is 25.  Some have told me that he is done--I think he is worth giving a shot.
