Hate this move. We should always be trying to improve. There's nothing wrong with and we actually should be trying to develop backup talent. Who's to say that said backup may not surprise the poo out of everyone and be better than Bryce? Dalton has one foot in the NFL grave and one foot on a banana peel. We can and should do better.

Canalas supposedly has "resurrected" 3 different qb careers now.  Why the fug wouldnt you sign a younger vet or draft someone to capitalize on this if it was true?  Such a stupid signing all because he can "mentor" our 8th grader.   If bryce needs his beanie baby and a calm/stable qb room then we are truly fuged.  Dalton brings absolutely nothing in terms of production and back up.  Was I the only one watching him play last year?  Am i the one in bizarro world?

Panthers may still be screwed if b young stays healthy lol

My point is, we’re not a team with a loaded roster who critically needs a backup QB to help them tread water to keep them in the playoff race. We’re still a few years away from being a serious contender. Our backup QB is not a huge priority.

Andy is good for Bryce, and was probably instrumental in his development. He is certainly the ONLY friend version 1.0  had in the entire state. He’s cheap, a mentor, and can at least still throw a good ball. He’s a backup, accepts the role, and has amassed valuable knowledge.

Does anyone legit think that there will be ANY semblance of a QB competition come training camp? Bryce 2.0 is THE starter, unquestioned, at least through the end of next season.

Bro hung a 40 burger, winning in OT, in the house where the Panthers, every season, invent new ways to lose. 2006 (tie, scored 44) and 1998 (scored 51) were the ONLY other games, in Panthers history, where this point total was either met or surpassed. Those squads were pretty stacked with Panthers’ all time offensive greats.

Bryce’s team featured Chuba, 3 rookies, 2 veteran nobodies at TE, and Thielen. His previous visit to the dome… he got smashed, embarrassed, and looked like he had no business playing a grown ass man’s game.

As abysmal as the team was last season, that game was arguably the best win the Panthers have ever had in the dome. If someone else could have done it, it would have been done many times over by now, but it hasn’t been.

I’m no Bryce homer and dished dirt on his game like few others, but you can’t just fade that off as a nothing. It was significant, and only the stiffest detractors feel otherwise. There is no QB competition.

There aren't a lot of quality backup QB's available and none at this price. The QB FA market is a bunch of nothings and guys that will be getting paid for than Bryce.

What we need is someone like Dalton that can be a decent backup QB and also a good mentor for Bryce.

I saw someone mention Fields. I couldn't possibly think of many worse options. Not as cheap(probably) and one of the worst #2 QB's in the NFL, outside doing a good Taysom Hill impression.
