heart palpitations

Recommended Posts

it gets better with intense activity and caffeine believe it or not... and worse when I'm sitting or laying around and then get up.

Feels like my heart stops for a beat, lurches, and beats harder the next beat.

Rarely I get the fast ones directly after.

it could be something serious bro..u should probably go to the doctor A.S.A.P.

This is exactly what I have with the exercise and coffee thing too. First tested about 10 years ago. Doc says it is pretty typical this type of arrhythmia and I haven't worried about it since. However there are bad types so you may want to get checked out. I think a quick EKG will tell pretty quick if you have something serious.

If I get regular exercise it basically goes away

In general, if they get better with exercise, it's nothing to worry about. It's when you're doing something and you get shortness of breath, chest pain, heart palpitations, etc, that you should worry.

Oh, and sitting still for a period of time can cause them and chest pain. Found that out at Ty's visit.

Cut the caffeine.

You really need to look at the overall picture, though.

I have had them since I was a teenager.....something to do with my mitro valve or something. Still have them as an adult......a few times it really hurt and made it so I couldn't breathe. Felt like my heart would "pop" if I took a deep breathe. It comes and goes I still notice the increase heart rate while doing nothing a couple of times a week. It is unnerving but pretty sure harmless in my case (at least that is what I hope).

Wouldn't hurt to do the heart monitor for a couple of days like bunny mentioned. That is how I was diagnosed.

If the doc gives me a pill that makes me limp in the britches, I'm coming after ya.

I've been having it a lot lately as well. I've been thinking about going to a doctor but it has been happening less the last week or so. I tried going off caffeine but that didn't seem to help. My heart flutters and I feel out of breathe.

Sounds like it's pretty common.
