Who Has to Be Off the Board to Trade Back?

This is one of the few drafts I can think of recently where the depth is much better than the scant amount elite players at the top of the board. That being said, who has be be gone prior to #8 where you are saying, trading back is just as attractive of an option as BPA?

To me it's:

-Graham

-Carter

-McMillan

After that, to me (Jeanty aside whom we will not draft) players aren't moving the needle much more than the next prospect for several picks.  I'm cool with moving back several picks and getting one of the next cluster of Edge guys.

Im all for defense. I’ll add Will Johnson and remove McMillian. While I’d rather have DL, two strong corners will allow for more safety help in the box, so it’s still a win for the run game.

If there’s not much difference in moving back a couple spots, finding a good offer might be an issue.

Carter, Graham, and Hunter for me. Other than that I'm listening to offers. Hell, I'm listening to offers anyway. I'm not doing the Gettleman thing of submitting the pick immediately. If the phones are ringing there's no cost to listening. Maybe someone has an offer so good that I can't refuse.

Good thread idea, 45.  I get why you added McMillan, but I think I would keep my list to 2--Carter and Graham.

I might add Will Johnson if we don't land a free agent CB who is starting caliber--

Here is another question:  If you drafted Hunter, where would you play him?

CB with a package of plays on offense. That's the best bang for the buck. It's a lot harder to contribute situationally on defense and he's a better CB than WR as is. This is all for moot. He's gone before #8 unless he gets indicted for murder between now and draft day.

Looks like you favor moving back as realistically none of them make out of the top 5.

Johnson seems to be beneficiary of a seemingly weak CB class, certainly top echelon ones.  Granted I haven't dove into the draft as much this season as prior years, but I have yet to see glowing reviews for him.  Stated like this, would he be a top 10 CB in a stacked CB class?  Similar to the QBs this draft, Sanders and Ward would have been second round selections in last years QB class.

I'm definitely for listening to offers. Always a chance someone else values a remaining prospect a lot more than you do.

Still a long time until draft day too. These big boards will change a lot post-Combine when the press will get a lot of scout access and get a better idea of how actual NFL talent evaluators view these guys.

I have the same concerns.  Not playing this year makes him tough to gauge.
