Free Agents in 2009

we need a monster interior guy. kemo is the man, and lewis does alright, but i'd love to see a jenkins-esque middleman to annihilate the middle of the pocket every down.

we're set at DB. maybe draft a cornerback late in the draft if there's a decent one left. linebacking corps is as deep as it's ever been. we're stacked at that position.

on offense, i think we have an extraordinary rotation of guys. losing gross would hurt, but not TOO bad. if it cleared up the cap space to make a few additions elsewhere i'd be cool with it. i'd like to see us sign at least a moderately big-name WR, cut hackett, and have smith, moose, jarrett, and the other guy; OR, work robinson and jones into the offense as WR's. both have enormous potential. we have options here.

RB's... not even going there. we're set in that department. and while i love nick goings to death, he needs to go. birmingham is a solid third option.

Here 's the cap hit information on peppers, jake, and for good measure Gross and lucas.

Delhomme - 10,956,666 - actual salary is 6.1 million. the cap hit is 6th for qb in the league.

Peppers - 14,137,500 - of this only 3 million is from bonuses. his salary is this high because of earlier pro bowl add ons to his contract. which added not to bonuses but to his total salary.

Lucas- 5,905,000 - he's the 11th highest paid db in the league for this season.

Gross - 7,459,920 - in the top ten in overall salary for oline.

Good news for 2009 is while we can debate players and positions, I would think we would agree (?) our needs are small so we are really just looking at 'upgrades'.

I don't think we could afford Cassel. I was a huge fan of Moore until seeing some of his mistakes last year. I don't think either is the answer, but also think Jake has 1-3 more years in him - if he can get out of his slump..like TONIGHT.

Peppers imo has to be resigned.

Gross - like I said earliler I don't know. He frustrates me but I really worry how it would be without him.

Dline - Jenks leaving hurt bad. I know it had to be done for the locker room but the man was a beast. Kemo is good but he's just not a Jenks. We also need another pass rusher desperatly. (s?)

Richardson/Fox...I hope they resign Peppers, give Gross a competitive offer and if he goes than get one from FA as another mentioned. Draft can be for depth - maybe another safety / return guy.

I disagree about we don't need a defensive back because they haven't been playing to their potential for the last couple of weeks but they are still solid. Maybe letting go of Gross and getting Asomugha and resigning Peppers. but then again we all know Fox doesn't like going after the big named free agents.

umm, Losman sucks balls, you're thinking of Trent Edwards that was hot this year and got hurt, Losman has been the Carr of the Bills and played them out of the postseason
