I'm becoming more cynical of people coming to my house period. Couple of Craiglist thefts/murders and the people you have to deal with...I'd rather donate it to a local charity and get the tax value and let THEM deal with the theives and people.

Yeah, but it's also the reason that garage sales aren't even worth it here. Not only do you have to deal with all of the lowballers, but you'll get a family of mexicans (not trying to be racist, but speaking from experience) that will pester and distract you, lowballing you ($10 for that couch? $5 for that xbox?) while their friends steal your poo. It's worth the extra effort to sell anything that has any value over $20 online anyways.
