Normally I would agree, but we've got to find some talented receivers. The front office might be inclined to keep a few more on the roster in hopes we can get a couple legitimate starters out of the group.

But you're right that historically we don't carry more than four receivers and, if we do, many of the receivers are also expected to contribute on special teams.

If we do the same this year, players like Wallace Wright might earn one of the spots. Maybe Goodson will play some slot receiver this year as well.

True. But historically speaking, isn't 4 wide receiver sets out of the normal history line for our team? Yeah, we'd have to do away with a few backups, but I think it would be worth it if we can get some decent Special Teams play outta some of the receivers. Because, realistically speaking, that's all we'd lose if we were to keep one or two extra receivers. So, if Lafell and Armantti can produce on Special Teams... I wouldn't be surprised if we let a CB or S go.

I see us carrying 6 wide receivers on the roster this year. Call me crazy all you want, but Fox wants a good handful of weapons for his new offensive play calling. If this is his last year coaching in Carolina, why not put all the marbles in the bag? And some of these guys will also be expected to produce on Special Teams as well.

1. Steve Smith (that's a given)

2. Dwayne Jarrett (I haven't given up on him, and neither have the coaches)

3. Armantti Edwards (our DeSean Jackson + special teams play)

4. Brandon Lafell (drafted in the 2nd round, he has to make the team)

5. Kenneth Moore (my belief is that he was 4th on the roster last season, no reason he won't make the team this year)

6. And this one is obviously up in the air, but my money is on David Gettis.

So with all that being said, Charlie Martin doesn't make the team in my opinion. I think there's a lot of talent in that position now, and it'll be really really tough for him to stand out unless he has a spectacular preseason.

I am in agreement with you my friend, I think we will carry six wide outs. However, I am not sure it will be Gettis. I want Gettis to be on the roster, but if he is not then he will be on the practice squad. Regardless of how it pans out here is how I see the Wide Receiver depth chart as of right now.

WR Depth Chart (as of right now)

1. Steve Smith

2. Dwayne Jarrett

3. Brandon LaFell

4. Kenneth Moore

5. Armanti Edwards

6. David Gettis

7. Charly Martin

8. Wallace Wright

9. Trent Guy

10. Dexter Jackson

11. Oliver Young

David Gettis is the guy I'm really pulling for. You can tell by his interviews that he's a really bright kid, and I noticed a pic of him catching balls after practice on the Observer sight yesterday, so he seems to have the work ethic to succeed, along with the size and speed.

if Gettis can put all of his natural talent together he will be a great WR.

    • What I really learned here is that the Carolina Panthers aren't anywhere near as bad as I initially thought they were earlier this year.  We've got a young and growing offense with some promising parts. But it still needs some tweaks and improvements.  We really still could still use a dominant #1 WR. But Chubba,  Legette, Coker,  and J.Sanders have generally looked decent. Bryce took a big leap after the benching. We can score enough points to keep pace with 2x defending super bowl champions, so offense isn't a huge issue. Main thing that needs improvement is defense. We sorely need a CB 2, and a number of new players at Dline and LB.  We're not quite as bad at edge with Wonnum showing promise.  But we definitely need 1 or 2 more edges Clowney is old.  Run D is probably worse prevailing theme these past couple years. We really need a good young stud or two to pair with Derrick Brown and another LB to pair up with Trevin Wallace. If Morgan and Canales can focus on rebuilding the defense this off-season and possibly going out and getting a #1 WR. This team could easily be somewhere around 7-10 to 10-7 and flirting with playoffs in 1 or 2 seasons. Overall this game has made me feel alot more positive about the direction of the team.
    • With our picks we need pass rush, lb, Safety, a speedster yac wr, o line depth and I still want a mid round qb. We got 9 picks and 8 in the first 5 rounds. If they pull Off another solid draft we be cooking.
    • We had one passing touchdown against the Giants and one passing touchdown against the Chiefs today. Yes a good backup can replicate that. And that is why Andy Dalton in significantly less games has the same number of 30 point outings as Bryce Young. I am on board with you guys about wanting to be hopeful for the future. Today was a good performance to build on especially at home. But let's please keep things in perspective. BTW the Bucs who honestly aren't even that good blew the doors off the Giants today after we went to overtime against them with 17 points. Again. Perspective.
