that and oil etc. There was talk that even if the plug worked, that it could also cause a whole bunch of subsequent leaks at other places as the pressure within needed to be released somewhere! Not a good scene by any means.

To call this thing a "leak" is a great misnomer. When I have dripping pipe underneath my kitchen sink, that's a leak. This is a fugging geyser.

I just checked it and man it still looks bad.... I heard people saying if a Hurricane hit that the top oil could be spread up to 50 miles inland.

Uber fail

BP admitted defeat Saturday in its attempt to plug the Gulf of Mexico oil leak by pumping mud into a busted well, but is readying yet another approach after repeated failures to stop the crude that's fouling marshland and beaches.

BP PLC Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles said the company determined the "top kill" had failed after it spent three days pumping heavy drilling mud into the crippled well 5,000 feet underwater. More than 1.2 million gallons of mud was used, but most of it escaped out of the damaged riser.
