This might be the perfect draft for rebuilding our front 7.  Plenty of quality DTs. LBs are devalued and we aren’t afraid to trade. I know draft simulations are dicey but they spark the imagination.  What if we could completely rework the defense in one draft? And how would that class be configured? Line heavy? Shutdown corners or flying edge speed?

Fortunately, Malaki Starks is far and away the best safety in the draft and if we're talking value, the team only has a UDFA (Richardson) under contract going forward.

He's also a better prospect than Kyle Hamilton was (imo) who went #14. Minkah Fitzpatrick went at #11 a couple of seasons prior to that.

Fair points. Value is the theme. It’s a deep draft, not top heavy. Trades should be available and the Panthers could capitalize.

      Neither QB.  no S.  No linebackers 3 edge.  Abdul, Jalon and Mykel Williams. 2 CBs:  Johnson and Jahdae Barron 1 DT:  Mason Graham "we aren't talking about how many players will ultimately be drafted in Round 1; we're talking about how many carry a true Round 1 grade. The average draft class has roughly 15 players who are deemed "first-round talents," though the number varies by team and scouting department. These sacred evaluations are reserved for prospects who would be Day 1 selections regardless of year, and my own guideline is whether a player would have been a first-rounder in each of the past five classes.   To compare, the final list in 2024 had 18 names on it, and the 2023 list had 20.       The thing that makes me nervous about him is he seems to have invested very heavily into this online/media redneck persona versus seeing work. Now, that is obviously a perception versus reality thing but remember how impressed all of us were at the kind of workouts that Horn was doing in his first couple of seasons. He seemed to really, really pine for greatness and be a sponge for information. Now, could you possibly attribute some of his injuries to working out too much(see McCaffery, Christian)? Maybe. I am worried, and maybe unfairly so, that the bulk of the output we see for XL is somewhere between brand building and goofing off. Hence why I am worried maybe he just isn't putting in the work. TBH, his college career has ample evidence for this theory. We will see how it all shakes out. If we don't see much improvement over 2025, I think I will have all I need to make my judgement on the direction.
