Vickers out for season

Complications from the blood clots. The blood thinners he'll be on won't allow him to be in the car.

Mears will probably race all the oval races, they may bring in a specialist road course racer.

That sucks, he showed a lot of promise last year and outside of JGR was Toyota's best guy.

I hope he can come back next season, that's a serious situation.

  • 3 weeks later...

Mears 4th shot to prove himself didn't last long, he's being replaced by Reed Sorenson starting at New Hampshire next week. Mattias Ekström (real interested to see how he and Jan Magnussen do this Sunday) will run Sears Point.

Wrecking your teammate is never a good way to make your bosses happy

I know people called Speed a whiner, but anyone would whine if they were running like 30th and their teammate, running even worse, took them out. It's just stupid, no excuse for it, it's not as if a win was on the line.

My parents and Vickers' parents were good friends when I was growing up... Clyde, Brian's father, was just starting CV Products at the time and my uncle was working with RCR on Dale Earnhardt's team... We all used to go over to the Vickers' house for get togethers and parties and such... I can remember having a snow party, sledding down their backyard hill and driveway, while Brian and my sister played, and the parents were off doing their own things... I took my first drink at their house... heh... Bacardi 151 shot that my father didn't think I had the balls to do... When my parents would go out with Clyde and Ramona, I'd be the one who got to babysit... My sister was 3, and Brian was 4............. It was absolute hell on earth... They would color the walls, trash the rooms, and on one occasion, Brian convinced my sister that her nose was a great place to store BB's... Wish I knew then what I know now.... heh...

Despite the 21st place finish, I'd say Ekström did really well for himself. He led a couple of laps and stayed up front after getting there. Too bad he became a victim of Brad Keselowski in the end. It's a bummer he has other obligations during Watkins Glen, I would like to see him in the car again. Maybe he gets a gig into the #82 car next since, seeing how Red Bull Racing likes to stick to drivers previously sponsored by them.
