Kirwin - 6 New teams in playoffs this year

Tank Tyler has only started 19 games in his career and only 2 times in the past 2 years. Last year he appeared in 6 games for us and had a grand total of 6 tackles. Louis has started 5 games in those 4 years. Compare that with who they are replacing and it clear that they don't possess 1/10 of the experience that we lost. So yeah they are very inexperienced and very green. Everyone is athletic and talented at this level. What makes the biggest difference is game experience and they don't have much of it. Should we be concerned, only an idiot wouldn't be.

So? All Tank Tyler and Louis Leonard have to be is average, because that's what Kemo and Damione Lewis were even with all that experience. Anything they do above average is an instant upgrade.

Yeah, it's all a guess, but I don't know why it would shock folks to see the Panthers in the play offs though. The only thing this offense will be missing is Moose, and the only real potential problem on defense is depth at DT and maybe in the secondary, but how many other teams won't miss a beat if some of their key starters get hurt?

Let me reiterate that Tank Tyler and Louis Leonard have both been in the league for 4 years, so the Panthers starting D-line is not as screwed as people seem to believe. I don't know why so many fans are acting as if those guys have never played a game in their lives and have no chance to succeed in Meeks defense. It's not like they will be learning from scratch like even the long time veterans were at this time last year.

missing moose is a non issue. he barely contributed last year. it's the DL that offers us the biggest obstacle this season. if we can't stop the run, we're in trouble.

Moose was a very effective run blocker, he will be missed. It's unknown if lafell can step in to take his place but he's the best canidate.

but the Steelers will not. They will not win more than 6 games this season.

You trippin'.

I think the Steelers and Giants will both struggle to get to 7-9 or 8-8.

Both y'all niggas trippin'.

Steelers upgraded defense. They upgraded oline. Ben is out four games. So?

Three of the first four games are easily winnable without him. They will go no worse than 10-6.

Why is everybody on the giants? What did they do in the off season that makes them so much better this year because they sucked last year

Because injuries destroyed their defense and Jacobs had an off year. They are still one of the best teams in the NFC. If don't have any actual facts please don't talk.

I just don't believe our D-line is in that much trouble, at least not as far as the starters go. Everybody keeps pointing to how Meeks defense had trouble stopping the run at Indy, but he also had 270lb DT's in his rotation there and they still stopped the run in the play offs. The Panthers don't have any DT's that small. In fact, the Panthers still have a couple of DE's that are bigger than some of the DT's Meeks had at Indy. Booger McFarland was his big run stuffer on that Super Bowl defense, and that guy was 6' tall and 300lbs. Louis Leonard is about 30lbs heavier than that, and if he can get any pass rush at all, he will be an upgrade over Kemo.

If the Panthers make the playoffs this year it will be a much bigger surprise than when they did it in 2005 or 2008. Difference is this team has much less veteran leadership and experience. And experience counts for everything in the NFL. All of these guys have talent and athleticism or they wouldn't be here to begin with.

Experience is a piece of the puzzle but it isn't everything. If it was everything, the team with the most experienced roster would always win the Lombardi. They don't.

Actually most of the time they do. Look at the Colts and New Orleans roster and tell me how many veterans do they have especially at key positions. Every team has to sprinkle in new guys and replace old with the new. But rarely does anyone do it wholesale with much success at least not for a few years.

I'm concerned but I'm certainly more optimistic about the situation. I was never impressed with kemo. Lewis was good but not as a starter.

Experience counts when you can actually use it. Off the field I cann see how the cuts hurt us but on the field I don't see some catastrophic lack of experience that will cripple us.

Expereince on the field is the key factor. Even guys who get older will tell you that they make up for losing a step with experience and knowing what to do. Inexperience is never a good thing and even great talent can't always make up for it. Why do you think all coaches prefer veterans??

You only got that partially right. Kemo and Lewis and Peppers were all either lazy or average. Their backups who were not good enough to replace them are all going to miraculously be fantastic and we won't miss a beat.:sifone:

Not sure why you bring up Peppers, since he's obviously better than Johnson et al, but didn't Leonard and Tyler start next to Lewis? That would mean that they didn't have to beat him for a job. And Kemo is really a nonfactor here since he didn't even play last year, so none of our players last year had the chance to take his job from him.
