Cam would not say that with TD in the room.

I think Cam is a good soul whi gets a little carried away especially as he's become one who needs to constantly publish takes on everything with his podcast or whatever it's called.

Yikes 😬

Yes, Newton was a great teammate, or at least he became one. There were definitely some stories from his rookie season that were somewhat less than complimentary. And based on what Charles Johnson says, it sounds like there are more yet to be told.

On the mic though, Newton was always that friend who made you cringe when he started talking. Lots of us have had friends and acquaintances that we knew meant well but for whom we often had to apologize and/or clarify what they meant. Unfortunately, that's Cam.

When he started making his journey toward becoming a talking head, It would be one that had its fair share of bumps in the road. Looks like we've hit one 😕

And yes, Smith can certainly be one to shoot his mouth off as well, but it doesn't exactly sound like he's alone in his viewpoint here.

I think Cam needs to walk some of that back. But I have no doubt that he wasn't talking about the core guys on that team. That 2010 team had a lot of the pieces that went 12-4 form 2008. That 08 squad was one of the most complete rosters we've ever fielded outside of Jake Delhomme, he was the weak link.

Cam can feel disrespected by the organization but he's shitting on a bunch of incredible players with these comments. It just feels like it's for attention...

Yep. Cam is going to morph more and more into the Stephen A model now that he's on ESPN.

He's honestly ESPN's wet dream. Charismatic...and a history of not thinking before he speaks at times.

Cam has done himself no favors lately with the stupid ish he says into a microphone. Seems like every few weeks he makes news for saying something really dumb. I hate to see it because I've always taken up for him but I'm not a fan of "Click Bait Cam" that has developed recently. Yeah yeah yeah..I know..."you sound like a hater"..."you're old"..."Cam is rich and you're poor"..."Cam was taken out of context"..." blah blah blah.

The 2011 team had talent but they were a locker room of losers. They literally were coming off a lame duck HC year that was horrendous even for a team that ended up earning a #1 pick. The core was a great but there was lots of waste on the team too to combine with terrible rookies other than Cam. It took Ron some time to rah rah the team up into what it became. Hurney running the team poorly without help from a HC in 2010 was a big part of that and he was fired the year after in October of 2012 and riverboat didn't show up until 2013. Ohh and 2011 and 2012 were 6 and 7 win seasons so they were literally losers too lol. So much so that Ron was almost fired before he went riverboat in 2013.

Meh, if they want to fight then whatever. The team still stinks and is in it's longest losing season streak ever. They were coworkers and nothing more with 2 personalities that are like oil and water.

Here's how I view it. Cam made a comment that was insensitive (this is pretty norm for him) but I don't think he meant it like "Oh all the Panthers are trash" he was just saying that by virtue of being the number one pick you are going to a stastically bad team

Steve took it personally because well....it's steve for god's sakes

Cam should just apologize and Steve and him can make up

    • he always was self-centered.  Great athlete, but he was about some Cam.  Maybe that was his way of being great--but think how he must have been treated his entire life--so he was a product of us. He is also very kind to his fans--saw him signing autographs for people after OTAs--he missed my son, holding a Cam jersey, and saw it when he looked back--he froze and looked sad, then smiled and ran back to him and signed it.  I saw him "showing off" at practice when nobody was in the stands--high energy, fun, contagious. Finally, I would say his teammates may not feel about the organization like Cam does.  I think the Panthers should have protected him better, offensive line, had him run less, slide more, and never let him run that QB draw.  But RR was worried about his job, and Cam is a gamer--Cam took a beating like no other QB before him--and he did it for the team.  So his bitterness may be misguided here.  Rivera and Hurney need to take some responsibility for the shortening of Cam's career and the feeling that he might have had the team on his back.  The OL was usually bad and there were not the best weapons after 89.  I understand it--he is not handling it well, but I see his source of irritation.
