Only 3 teams have older stadiums than us w/no renovation plans

In Miami they had actual outdoor bars at the corners of the concourse and it was fantastic - getting in early and having a beer and just hanging out was something that you could do without just going down to your seat or walking around. I would like to see that here.

Too bad beers are 6.50. I'd rather sit out in a parking lot nearby and drink .50 beers for a few hours ahead of the game.

Don't see them building a stadium anytime soon. Since it was paid by PSLs and those owners were told it was buying their seats for a lifetime, it is going to be a hard sell if they decide that lifetime actually means only 35 years. Will they expect folks to buy more PSLs- unlikely, or if they transfer the PSLs they receive no revenue but are on the hook for a new stadium which is what they used the PSL money for in the first place. I think eventually they will have to do something but I doubt anytime soon.

Not really sure what needs to be updated. Maybe a Godzillatron like UT has? Not really necessary but OK.

The clubs are nice, the box seats plentiful and I can't think of a section that's just dreadful to sit in. The stadium isn't any kind of forward thinking architectural masterpiece, but nothing in Charlotte really is. Can't think of much reason at all to change much.

I disagree, Charlotte's architecture is somewhat held in high regard.

It isn't the prettiest stadium in the league, but it's certainly not the ugliest. You also have to keep in mind location. Few stadiums in the league can claim a better location than ours.

Plus, it's a private stadium. Lots of the newer ones were built by holding their respective cities to a fire for public funds. I don't think Jerry is too keen on doing that. He takes a tremendous amount of pride in being self-made.

The only 2 upgrades that I would want is for the endzones to be black all season and maybe a logo at midfield

two upgrades I want:

Better Beer

More field paint ( not the endzones)

Surely those wouldn't be so hard.

im sure it will be a while before the stadium is replaced. at least i am proud to say it is a nice stadium. i was really impressed the last time i saw it in 1999. its nicer than the superdome, the georgia dome and raymond james. one thing that really stood out to me is how clean it was, much like Charlotte itself.

Richardson is plenty wealthy, but a stadium cost a lotta cash. usually at least a $billion or $1.1B. I dont really think he has a way off the hook to his relationship with psl holders of Bank of America stadium, and without a PSL type situation, i dont think he has that kind of assets to build a new one on his own, unless he were to involve the local governments, and i dont think his pride would allow him to do that.

Well, that is sort of the whole point of the thread, you know, it being modern... If you last saw it in 1999 it might not be so impressive anymore.

But I trust your judgement and I believe it stands true 11 years later. (No sarcasm intended.)

While I like our stadium, it's nowhere near state of the art and there are a lot of better looking stadiums out there. But since lots are city owned, they can get makeovers easier. I'd assume any renovation would come out of JR's pocket. I don't see him doing that. Nor do I see any dealings for a new stadium. We will have what we have now, for a long time and will be a, "gosh this place is a dump" in a decade.
