Only 3 teams have older stadiums than us w/no renovation plans

Recommended Posts

Not really sure what needs to be updated. Maybe a Godzillatron like UT has? Not really necessary but OK.

The clubs are nice, the box seats plentiful and I can't think of a section that's just dreadful to sit in. The stadium isn't any kind of forward thinking architectural masterpiece, but nothing in Charlotte really is. Can't think of much reason at all to change much.

The new arts "district" might change your mind on that. But overall I agree.

Ummmm no. Need more urinals and beer stands

Wow. You must have good seats in the lower level. Just about all there is in the upper level is Bathrooms and Beerstands. The inside wall of the upper level just alternates mens/womens bathrooms all the way around. Last year they outdid themselves with beestands as well, you can't walk 10 feet without going by one.

Anyways BOA has gone through some of these "major" renovations. The Gridiron Club and Suite 87 were put in just a few years ago. They gutted those sections of the stadium to put that in. Remember the only reason these other teams are "renovating" is to put in more premium seating.

In regards to the Jumbotron, I put quality over quantity. Baltimore and Seattle have big screens but the quality sucks, they are just like the Panthers old screen.

But I digress . . .

No way we build a new stadium in the next 20 years. I dont think it needs any renovations either. Its still nicer than most of the stadiums I have been in.

What other stadiums have you been in? Just curious, what makes you think that.

I think Bank of America is an O.K. stadium. It's really simple, not much going for it, but it works. I don't know they can do to improve on it... ??? They've made a few upgrades to the audio & video, and although I'm not seriously impressed (I wish the screen was bigger like Lincoln Financial in Philly), it's probably the best they can do with the way the stadium is laid out.

I do agree it's good for awhile. At least 15 years. 20 might be a stretch with the way the game is growing.

I also feel that people will argue about needing to build new - sometimes- because it's an instinct. That's way I asked, what other stadiums you've been to? I remember a lot of people who whined about Shinn wanted a new arena for the Hornets. A lot of people complained. Fact is, the old Hive was outdated. It had the lowest number of luxury boxes and club seats of any stadium... and just wasn't going to work if the team was going to move forward in the NBA.

Granted, if you don't want to spend on a new stadium or arena, you just don't want to! Reasoning as to why the team needs you to consider it, won't matter. Yet, if that isn't the case and your someone who simply feels the arena is fine, I think you state your case rather than just say it is.

BOA still stacks up well compared to a lot of other stadiums. I'm sure it doesn't compare to Jerry's Palace, but it is still in the upper half. Of the stadiums I've been to or had qualified opinions about, here is how I think BOA stacks up

Falcons- Georgia Dome (BOA Better Looking and better fan atmosphere. No real suprise there... Not the same since Vick left. Matt Ryan just doesn't get the same level of love or hate)

Saints- Superdome (BOA Better Looking- Not as good fan atmosphere though... that is a loud Dome even when the Saints suck. However, if you've been to New Orleans there is not a more party-centered city in the US. There is no shortage of places to get drunk. I will say downtown New Orleans is as unique a place as I have ever been. Hard to believe you're in America in certain parts of the city and don't necessarily mean that as a bad thing. Pretty cool fans- but probably not as much so now since they finally won a SB and run their mouths more)

Tampa Bay- Raymond James Stadium (At least on par with BOA in appearance... I have to admit the Pirate ship is pretty cool and a look of hot women hanging out over there who could care less about the game. Fans not as rowdy as even Panthers fans though.

Chargers- Qualcomm Stadium (Better Looking- Equal fan atmosphere... Some crazy Latinos but a lot of SoCal people who seem like they couldn't get too excited if an asteroid was going to hit the Earth) By the way, if you think the bathroom situation sucks at BOA, it is lights years better than Qualcomm. Stood in line for 20 mins during halftime and never even made it inside the bathroom- finally gave up, stopped drinking, and held it...

Bears- Soldier Field (Never been there but our VP of Sales came down to Charlotte to see the Panthers/Bears game back in 2008 and said BOA was nicer than Soldier even with the renovations.

Patriots- Gillette Stadium (Pretty damn impressive even though Foxboro is a long way outside of Boston out in sticks). Wasn't there for a game but did see the stadium. Very nice- I really wanted to find a way to rip the Super Bowl XXXVIII banner down

Cowboys- Texas Stadium (Did a tour of the old stadium. As much as I hate the Cowboys, everything about them in terms of outward appearance has always been impressive... The old stadium was nice, can't imagine how overblown the new stadium is...
