First Superbowl I didnt finish probably since I was in elementary school. What a terribly uninteresting game. Whether it was my disdain for both teams, having to listen to Tom Bradys incompetence or whatever other reason I was incredibly disinterested in the biggest sporting event of the year.

I quit watching after the first half....I thought, here we go, Mahomes will get all calls for the greatest come back in the history of the NFL...I couldn't watch that.

Some absolute garbage time stats makes his stat line look a lot better than he played. A couple last minute TDs against a team that was already in celebration mode is the only thing that kept him from having one of the worst SB performances i can remember.

Still made the SB and Bryce still played the Iggles close soooo not sure what kind of dub you think you've gotten yourself 😮

At least the halftime show was fun. Was better than the game. 😄

Yeah, the Chiefs obviously don't suck

Now Sirianni will be off the hot seat for a season

Yea, for a season or two. Never say never because it didn't take them very long to axe Doug Pederson after he won a Super Bowl with them in 2017.

I loved every single minute of the Chiefs ass kicking

i should say, every second

the eagles also gave the blueprint, in my opinion, on how to best play the Chiefs

Defensive pressure. Pressure. Pressure. Gap control

hats off to fangio for his common sense  defensive plan and the execution of it

And offensively ball control.   Saquon did his job as the  chiefs put so much effort into stopping him that it made it so much easier for hurts

hats off also to the Eagles for knowing football is won in the trenches.  Both of their lines were magnificent

I found this interesting.  If you don't blitz, it's probably because your front 4 is dominating the game.

Quote

Philadelphia was able to pressure Mahomes without blitzing, which was the key to its success. In fact, the Eagles did not blitz Mahomes on any of his 32 dropbacks, making him the sixth quarterback in Super Bowl history to not be blitzed a single time (h/t ESPN Research). Each of those quarterbacks lost the game.

Bryce mentioned Eagles defense as well in one of his interviews during radio row... He mentioned Eagles having a lot of simple looks, not really much exotic looks as far as bringing pressure. They just have a LOT of talent on the defensive side, not to say Fangio doesn't deserve any credit. Superbowl MVP should've been given to Howie (joke), what a job he has done there in philly.

Okay, so I gotta talk about what happened at our house yesterday 😆

Getting Lady Cowboy Fan's family together is always a recipe for something...interesting. Sunday was no different, and it got going with some pre Super Bowl rounds of Pictionary.

Lady Cowboy Fan's daughter-in-law was given a word to try and artistically convey for her team and went right to it. Her initial concept drawing consisted of a big, horizontal, potato shape at the bottom with a thin shaft sticking up out of it that rounded at the other end.

If you're picturing something a bit phallic looking, you've got the idea 😳

Her eleven year old son definitely got that idea, since right there in front of his mom, dad, grandmother (LCF), other grandmother, me and everyone else, he started shouting out "PENIS! ITS A PENIS! A PENIS!" 😬

I like to think of myself as a wordsmith, but the anguished look on his mom's face was something I doubt i could sufficiently put into words even if you paid me a trillion dollars to try. And it didn't get much better when her mom - also in attendance - yelled out "MELISSA, YOU ERASE THAT DRAWING RIGHT NOW! THERE'S CHILDREN HERE!!!"

("children repeatedly shouting the word 'penis' for all the world to hear" I thought to myself, "but okay")

That wasn't the correct - or appropriate - answer though, so in an attempt to calm things down I saw her turn the whiteboard around and start furiously scribbling. No lie, I genuinely asked myself if she might perchance be attempting to add hair to the balls.

When she flipped the board back around though, what I saw instead was that she had colored both the shaft and the potato shape bright red 😖

(that led to some other ideas which didn't exactly fall under the "family friendly" category either)

All attempts at guessing had been replaced by laughing by that point. Any hope of an answer had vanished, so she pretty much just gave up until time ran out. Once the timer expired, all of us were waiting with great anticipation to hear what the correct answer was since we had absolutely no clue.

Her word was THERMOMETER 🤔

Enough rounds were played that it did come around to her turn again, but she declined to participate further after that performance. As you might imagine, a few slightly rude jokes were m made at her expense. For the record, I can neither confirm nor deny whether any of those were made by me 😐

That said, I'd be willing to bet those same jokes are likely to be brought up again the next time the whole family gets together. It'll be interesting to see if she's brave enough to attend.

For my part, I'll just say that all episode was probably more fun and memorable than the Super Bowl itself was 😆

The Eagles dominated on both sides of the line which was the key to success. And that is how to beat any team by not having to blitz on the defensive side and being able to pass protect and block on the offensive side.

We have done a good job on the offensive line and need to do the same on the defensive side this year.  I am convinced if we can pressure the quarterback without blitzing like Philly did last night, we would be a contender. I think we really need to upgrade DLine and safety. Everos scheme demands pressure and right now we have no one outside of Brown who can collapse a pocket or demand a double team.

    • Every team has stories but as curious as I am I kinda hope these stay buried. Cam should apologize and straighten up his references to his old teammates. If he's pissed at the org, be pissed at the org.
    • That's not my point, I'm just saying it's a very micro way of looking at it. As I said to someone a week or two ago when they said "we need high draft picks on the defensive side of the ball" That's just a flawed way of looking at building a roster, we need to have impact players on the defensive side of the ball, not necessarily high draft picks, they're two different things.  Everyone keeps talking about going all defense in this draft, but the reality is we need to just forget about the draft right now and focus on defensive FA's. If we target and sign the right players in FA, namely not trying to spread our cap around but sign 1-2 serious impact players with at least one being a pass rusher, then it opens up all sorts of draft possibilities.  Even if we went defense with every pick of our draft, they better not be the most impactful newcomers on the team next year, as it then means we screwed up our free agency.
    • There are some signs that they are going to keep him--getting rid of some of their training and conditioning staff--when they go back to grass on the field, I will see that Tepper is on board.  Horn has missed 25 games (more than a season) and I think the field and perhaps the training staff had something to do with his rehab.  They do make a difference.  Furthermore, they lost Brooks again for another year--which may have been the last straw for them.  It is interesting (to your point).  My comment was not based on what I would do--it was based on what they might be thinking (not to say that you were assuming it was my idea).  I look at management from their perspective--not mine.  Any good GM would consider the injury history.  Until we go back to grass, I will assume Tepper is not interested in this aspect of team ownership. Regardless, giving a player who has missed a season and a half in four years a lucrative contract is risky, and that risk needs to be minimized by considering all variables.
