Casting got it half-right both times.

In the first one, they got Fred and Wilma right (John Goodman and Elizabeth Perkins).

Dann Florek as Mr. Slate and Elizabeth Taylor as Wilma's mother were also great choices.

In the second one, they got the Rubbles right (Stephen Baldwin and Jane Krakowski).

They also scored using Alan Cumming as Gazoo - acknowledged grudgingly because I hate the character - and including the now late Harvey Korman as Wilma's dad (Korman was the voice of Gazoo in the cartoons).

Put those two casts together and you've got the ideal Flintstones live action cast.

The character of "Sharon Stone" was actually written for...Sharon Stone :sosp:

She wanted to play the role too, but couldn't make it work out with prior commitments.

Thus, the job went to Halle Berry.

You're right, I fuging hated Gazoo. He was the Snarf of the Flintstones. The Jar Jar Binks of Bedrock.
