Petrowski signs With Carolina Panthers

If people are actually thinking this spells the end of Jeff King as a Panther, they're reading way too much into this signing. He'd be gone by now if he wasn't expected to be part of this year's team.

Well, it could be a move in preparation for a departure after this season.

This means nothing. We sign alot of players to come in and compete but have a slim to none chance of making the team. If any TE is on the chopping block I believe it to be Dante Rosario. He has great hands but a lousy blocker. I believe Barnidge has passed him on the depth chart and Petrowski might signal then end of Rosario more than King.

King is our starting TE. He is a great blocker and makes plays when called upon. I don't know if you can ask more from your TE. If you are asking for more than Barnidge has more of an upside than Rosario.

In the long run I beileve this is a camp addition nothing more.

Beware Rosario.

I think Rosario has really improved as a blocker. I still believe he is the best tight-end on the team at this time, though Barnidge -- as you said -- has more potential.

I do agree that Petrowski will never see the field.

Improved yes, to be the starting TE, no.

King owns the spot because of the Three he is the best blocking TE on the team. Rosario and Barnidge have similiar tools with Barnidge having the advantage of superior size.

The question between Rosario and Barnidge is "Who is the Better blocker?" Since we all know Petrowski is known for his outstanding blocking it would seem to me if they are content with Petrowski, Rosario or Barnidge is on the chopping blocks.

IMO when the curtain comes up on the 2010 Carolina Panthers our TE situation will be the same as it was in 2009.

Go Panthers

Agree 100%... Will probably amount to nothing long-term but if any of them should worry it should be Rosario.

Love the guy and I was at San Diego when he went nuts all game and caught the last-second pass but really outside of that game, he has been inconsistent at best, both as a receiver and especially as a blocker.

And being that Fox puts such a premium on TE's blocking, he should be a little worried. He's been passed as a receiving TE by Barnidge (who should have a chance to start IMO) and he's not nearly as good a blocker as King.

Hopefully this move will help him raise his game b/c I do like Rosario. Also hoping they keep bringing guys like this in to create competition.

On a team this young and inexperienced, no one outside of Steve Smith, Deangelo, and the like should be guaranteed anything.
